Abstract

The present invention discloses a machine (12) for maintaining trees and for industrial or civil applications consists of a self propelled hydraulic lift platform (10), a main body (1) being secured at ground level; and an extended arm (4) to mechanically hold the platform (10) at the front end with respect to said main body (1) from the ground to perform lifting and lowering operation of the platform (10) by a hydraulic power being powered by a hydraulic system. The platform (10) for this purpose consists of an operator cabin (3), a picking bag (9) for collecting agricultural products, a drive control for controlling the machine drive, a tower control for controlling lifting and lowering operation of the platform (10) and hydraulic quick couplers to operably couple power tools for cutting or pruning said agricultural products or various parts of trees respectively.

Description

A MACHINE FOR TREE MAINTENANCE OR INDUSTRIAL OR CIVIL APPLICATIONS
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to a machine with a self propelled platform for tree maintenance and more particularly relates to a self propelled hydraulic lift platform for efficient cutting, picking up and collecting the fruits from trees or pruning of trees, light fitting and maintenance on road and streets; and for other industrial or civil application at municipal corporation without causing danger to the operator.
Back ground and prior art of the invention
The methods for picking of fruits and pruning of trees in the world include moving heavy and cumbersome ladders for each and every tree in orchard. This leads to wastage and loss of time and effort plus man power is required.
Further the unsafe ladders and hard way of road and the street light maintenance is very time consuming and traumatic.
Hence, mainly it is needed to have an equipment or machine for safely cutting, picking up and collecting agricultural products from highly elevated trees without falling down on the soil.
Object of the invention
The main object of the present invention is to have a machine to provide a portable and adjustable, self propelled hydraulic lift platform implement adapted to support an operator, at selective height or position, for cutting, picking up and collecting fruits from highly elevated trees without falling down the fruits on the soil.
Another object of the present invention is to have a machine to provide a self propelled hydraulic lift platform implement that can perform additional functioning of pruning different parts of highly elevated trees.
Further object of the present invention is to have a machine to provide a self propelled hydraulic lift platform for public services and for road and street light maintenance. Still another object of the present invention is to have a machine to provide both manually operated as well as foot operated a self propelled hydraulic lift platform.
Still another object of the present invention is to have a machine to provide a provision to control drive operation and lifting operation of a self propelled hydraulic lift platform by a single operator.
Still another object of the present invention is to have a machine to provide safety indications in the self propelled hydraulic lift platform at critical situation.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a safety feature in the machine for lifting and lowering the self propelled platform during emergency.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a towing feature in the machine for towing a vehicle in the remote areas.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide a self propelled hydraulic lift platform which is highly economical, safe in nature and simple in structure.
Summary of the Invention
The present invention discloses a machine for maintaining trees and for industrial or civil applications consists of a self propelled hydraulic lift platform, a main body being secured at ground level; and an extended arm to mechanically, hold the platform at the front end with respect to said main body from the ground. The tree maintenance for this purpose includes picking, cutting and collecting agricultural products or pruning different parts of the trees. The platform for this purpose consists of an operator cabin, a picking bag for collecting agricultural products, a drive control for controlling the machine drive, a tower control for controlling lifting and lowering operation of the platform; and hydraulic quick couplers to operably couple different power tools that includes cutting devices or pruning devices.

Detailed description of the invention
Before explaining the present invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of the construction and arrangement of parts illustrated in the accompany drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments, as depicted in different figures as described above and of being practiced or carried out in a variety of ways. It is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation.
Referring to Fig. 1, 2, 3 and 4, a machine (12) for picking, cutting and collecting agricultural products as well as pruning trees in the agricultural field consists of a self propelled hydraulic lift platform (10), a main body (1) being secured at ground level; and an extended arm (4) to mechanically hold the platform (10) at the front end at selective height with respect to said main body (1) from the ground.
The platform (10) consists of an operator cabin (3) with a side door and a base (11) for comfort standing of an operator inside said cabin (3); a picking bag (9) secured at front side of said operator cabin (3) by a hook arrangement to collect the agriculture products in consequence to a picking and cutting operation; a drive control being mounted at the front side of said cabin (3) to smoothly control driving operation of the machine in the field; a tower control being mounted in the platform to control lifting and lowering operation of the platform (10); and hydraulic quick couplers being provided at the rear side of the cabin (3) to operably couple power tools for cutting or pruning operation of agricultural products or various parts of trees respectively. The power tools for this purpose include cutting device as well as pruning device. The main body (1) within its chassis (6) consists of a hydraulic system to supply hydraulic power for performing driving operation of the machine, for performing lifting or lowering operation of the platform (10) and for performing cutting or pruning operation of power tools. An engine is also being mounted within the chassis (6) of said main body (1) and which consists of all supporting accessories like a radiator, a muffler, an exhaust, a battery and a wiring harness to supply electric power to said hydraulic system. The main body (1) also consists of a towing bar (24) mounted at the rear end of the machine (12) by a connecting point (7) for towing a vehicle after connecting the vehicle at the towing bar (24).
The extended arm (4) is formed of a levelling arm and a main arm. One end of said levelling arm is firmly attached with the base (11) of the platform (10) and the other end is firmly attached with the chassis (6) of the main body (1). The main arm mechanically covers the levelling arm and thereby provides mechanical support to said levelling arm to avoid swinging motion of the platform during its lifting and lowering operation.
The drive control of the machine consists of a double lever drive control (13) which also acts as a steering for driving the machine (12) and controls the forward, reverse and lateral motion of the machine. Said drive control also includes a pair of drive wheels (2) mounted at the front bottom part of the main body (1) and a caster wheel (14) mounted at the rear bottom side of said main body (1). The forward and reverse motion of the drive wheels (2) is controlled by said double lever drive control (13) by a hydraulic power supplied by the hydraulic system.
The tower control of the platform (10) consists of a hand control lever (8) and an extendable hydraulic cylinder (5) being telescopically mounted on the chassis (6) for enabling lifting and lowering the extendable arm (4). Said hand control lever (8) being mounted nearby of said double lever drive control (13) at the front side of the cabin (3) to manually control lifting and lowering motion of the platform (10). The raising and lowering operations of the hydraulic cylinder (5) is controlled by the tower control by the hydraulic power supplied by the hydraulic system.
In addition to said hand control lever, the tower control also consists of a pair of foot pedal being mounted on the front side of the base (11) of the platform (10) to simultaneously control lifting and lowering motion of the platform (10) by foot when both the hands of the operator are engaged in cutting or pruning operation. During the emergency or to enhance the safety operation during the engine failure, the tower control provision is also kept in the chassis side of the machine for controlling lifting and lowering operation of the platform (10).
As directed in Fig. 5, the hydraulic system mainly consists of a lower lift control valve (15), a double lever drive control valve (16), an upper lift control valve (17), a gear type hydraulic pump (18), a hydraulic oil filled tank (19), a suction filter (20), a descending speed limit control valve (23), a port (21) of the hydraulic quick couplers and a relief valve (22) being mounted at inlet port of said lower lift control valve (15) as well as upper lift control valve (17). The lower lift control valve (15) is mounted within the chassis (6) of the main body (1) and whereas, the double lever drive control valve (16) and the upper lift control valve (17) is mounted at the platform side. The descending speed limit control valve. (23) is mounted on the inlet port of the hydraulic cylinder (5) to control maximum permissible descending speed limit of the platform (10).
In operation, as directed in Fig. 5, the hydraulic pump (18) sucks oil from hydraulic oil tank (19) through a suction filter (20) to supply the oil to the inlet port of the lower lift control valve (15) to control the hydraulic cylinder (5) to enable lowering down the platform (10). The oil from an outlet port of said lower lift control valve (15) then enters into said double lever drive control valve (16) to control operation of the drive wheels (2) for driving operation. From the double lever drive control valve (16), the oil flows to the inlet port of the upper lift control valve (17) to control the hydraulic cylinder (5) to enable lifting operation of the platform (10). From the outlet port of the upper lift control valve (17), the oil enters into the port (21) of hydraulic couplers to operate the hydraulic power tools for performing cutting or pruning operation. Finally, from the port (21), the oil flows back to the hydraulic oil tank (19).
Safety indications like warning light are provided at the operation panel near to engine for engine oil temperature & level.
Recapitulating the whole operation, after starting the engine, when the operator, supportably standing in the cabin (3), gently pushes the double lever drive control (13) in a forward direction, a hydraulic motor of the hydraulic system actuates the hydraulic pump (18) to supply the oil from the hydraulic oil tank (19) to double lever drive control valve (16) to enable the drive wheels (2) to move at idling speed of the machine towards the forward direction. Whereas, pushing the double lever drive control (13) at full stroke will considerably increase the drive speed of the drive wheels (2). An additional increase in speed of the drive wheels (2) is achieved by speeding up the engine using an engine speed control pedal. During such forward drive, to stop the drive wheels without turning off the engine, the double lever drive control (13) is pulled back to the original position. Further, for reverse drive, the double lever drive control (13) is pulled in rearward direction from its original position and for the right or left drive, the corresponding lever is to be pushed right or left side.
Similarly, when the hand control lever (8) is operated for the lifting operation, the hydraulic motor actuates the hydraulic pump (18) to supply the oil from the hydraulic oil tank (19) to upper lift control valve (17) to control the hydraulic cylinder (5) to enable lifting operation of the platform (10). When the hand control lever is operated for the lowering operation, the hydraulic motor actuates the hydraulic pump (18) to supply oil from the hydraulic oil tank (19) to lower lift control valve (15) for lowering the hydraulic cylinder (5) to enable lowering operation of the platform (10).
In consequence to coupling the power tools with the hydraulic quick couples, and after lifting the platform at a selected height, when cutting or pruning operation is actuated, then the hydraulic pump (18) gets actuated by hydraulic motor to supply the oil from the hydraulic oil tank (19) to the port (21) to operate the hydraulic power tools for performing cutting or pruning operation. During such cutting operation fruits are collected in the hook engaged picking bag (9) which is then released from the hook at the ground level after lowering down the platform (10) for collecting the fruits from the bag (9).
While, the invention has been described with respect to the given embodiment, it will be appreciated that many variations, modifications and other applications of the invention may be made. However, it is to be expressly understood that such modifications and adaptations are within the scope of the present invention, as set forth in the following claims.

Claims

We Claim,
1. A Machine (12) for Tree maintenance, Industrial or Civil Applications consists of a self propelled hydraulic lift platform (10), a main body (1) being secured at ground level; and an extended arm (4) to mechanically hold the platform (10) at the front end at a selective height with respect to said main body (1) from the ground; wherein the platform (10) consists of an operator cabin (3) with a side door and a base (11) to stand an operator inside said cabin (3); a picking bag (9) being secured at front side of said operator cabin (3) by a hook arrangement to collect agriculture products; a drive control being mounted at the front side of said cabin (3) to control a driving operation of the machine in the field; a tower control being mounted in the platform to control a lifting and lowering operation of the platform (10); and hydraulic quick couplers being provided at the rear side of the cabin (3) to operably couple power tools for a cutting or a pruning operation of agricultural products or various parts of trees respectively; wherein the main body (1) within its chassis (6) consists of a hydraulic system to supply hydraulic power to said drive control, said tower control and said hydraulic quick couplers; an engine being mounted within the chassis (6) of said main body (1) to supply electric power to said hydraulic system; and a towing bar (24) being mounted at the rear end of the machine (12) by a connecting point (7) for towing a vehicle;
wherein the extended arm (4) consists of a levelling arm which at one end firmly attached with the base (11) and at the other end firmly attached with the chassis (6); and a main arm to mechanically cover said levelling arm to avoid swinging motion of the platform (10) during said lifting and lowering operation; wherein the drive control of the machine (12) consists of a pair of drive wheels (2) mounted at the front bottom part of the main body (1); a double lever drive control (13) to control a forward, a reverse and a lateral motion of said drive wheels (2); and a caster wheel (14) mounted at the rear bottom side of said main body (1); wherein the tower control of the platform (10) consists of a hand control lever (8); an extendable hydraulic cylinder (5) being telescopically mounted on the chassis (6) for enabling the lifting and lowering operation of the platform (10); and a pair of foot pedal being mounted on the front side of the base (11) of the platform (10) to control lifting and lowering motion of the platform (10) by foot; wherein said hydraulic system consists of a lower lift control valve (15), a double lever drive control valve (16), an upper lift control valve (17), a gear type hydraulic pump (18), a hydraulic motor, a hydraulic oil tank (19), a suction filter (20), a descending speed limit control valve (23), a port (21) of the hydraulic quick couplers and a relief valve (22) mounted at inlet port of said lower lift control valve (15) as well as upper lift control valve (17).
2. The Machine (12) for Tree maintenance, Industrial or Civil Applications as claimed in claim 1, wherein the power tools include cutting device or pruning device.
3. The Machine (12) for Tree maintenance, Industrial or Civil Applications as claimed in claim 1, wherein a warning light is provided at the operation panel near to the engine for safety indication for said engine oil temperature and level.
4. The Machine (12) for Tree maintenance, Industrial or Civil Applications as claimed in claim 1, wherein the double lever drive control (13) also acts as a steering during driving operation of the machine (12).
5. The Machine (12) for Tree maintenance, Industrial or Civil Applications as claimed in claim 1, wherein said hand control lever (8) is mounted nearby said double lever drive control (13) at the front side of the cabin (3).
6. The Machine (12) for Tree maintenance, Industrial or Civil Applications as claimed in claim 1, wherein the lower lift control valve (15) is mounted within the chassis (6) of the main body (1) and wherein the double lever drive control valve (16) and the upper lift control valve (17) is mounted at the platform side.
7. The Machine (12) for Tree maintenance, Industrial or Civil Applications as claimed in claim 1, wherein the descending speed limit control valve (23) is mounted on the inlet port of the hydraulic cylinder (5) to control maximum permissible descending speed limit of the platform (10).
8. The machine (12) for Tree maintenance, Industrial or Civil Applications as claim in claim 1, wherein said main body (1) also consists of an emergency tower control lever for lifting and lowering operation the platform (10) during emergency.
9. An Operation of a Machine (12) for Tree maintenance, Industrial or Civil Applications consists of a self propelled hydraulic lift platform (10), a main body (1) with an hydraulic system and an extended arm (4), comprising following steps;
a) starting an engine of the machine (12) and starting a drive operation of the machine (12) by gently pushing a double lever control (13) of said self propelled hydraulic lift platform (10) in a forward or a rearward or a lateral direction;
b) actuating a hydraulic motor of said hydraulic system to supply the oil from a hydraulic oil tank (19) to double lever control valve (16); c) enabling drive wheels (2) of the main body (1) to move at idling speed in a forward or reverse or lateral direction;
d) pushing said double lever control (13) at full stroke to increase the drive speed;
e) pulling back the double lever drive control (13) at original position to stop the drive wheels without turning off the engine;
f) starting a lifting operation of the platform (10) by operating a hand control lever (8) mounted in said platform (10);
g) actuating said hydraulic motor to supply the oil from a hydraulic oil tank (19) to an upper lift control valve (17) mounted at said platform (10) to control a hydraulic cylinder (5) of said hydraulic system to enable lifting of said extended arm (4) for lifting the platform (10);
h) stopping said lifting operation at desired height; i) starting a cutting or a pruning operation for tree maintenance or for civil or industrial application;
j) stopping said cutting or pruning operation;
k) starting a lowering operation of the platform (10) by operating said hand control lever (8);
1) actuating said hydraulic motor to supply the oil from a hydraulic oil tank (19) to a lower lift control valve (15) mounted at a chassis (6) of the main body to control said hydraulic cylinder (5) of said hydraulic system to enable lowering of said extended arm (4) for lowering the platform (10);
m) stopping the lowering operation at desired height.
10. The Operation of the Machine (12) for Tree maintenance, Industrial or Civil Applications as claimed in claim 9, wherein a speed of the engine during the driving operation is adjusted by an engine speed control pedal mounted in the platform (10).
