Abstract

A synchronization channel for acquiring cell synchronization of a system in a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) over a Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) is provided. More particularly, an apparatus and a method for performing an MBSFN without using a synchronization channel which degrades a performance by interfering with other channels are provided. The apparatus includes a System Information Block (SIB) checker for checking a SIB which includes frame boundary time difference information between an MBSFN cluster and a neighbor cell; and a controller for acquiring frame synchronization using the frame boundary time difference of the SIB.
