Abstract

[PROBLEMS] To reduce fuel consumption of an internal combustion engine by applying pulses to a lead storage battery. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A high frequency pulse generation circuit (22) is equipped with switching transistors (23) and (24) interposed in a loop of an electrolytic capacitor (25) and an inductor (26) so that an LC resonance circuit of the capacitor (25) and the inductor (26) can be alternately changed over an LC parallel resonance circuit and an LC series resonance circuit. The switching transistors are turned ON to accumulate magnetic field energy in the inductor (26), and the transistors are turned OFF to supply the pulses from the LC series resonance circuit via a resistor (29) and a backflow preventive diode (30) to the lead storage battery, thereby using part of the magnetic field energy in sulfation ionization. The resistor (29) having such a value that can reduce the fuel consumption is employed.
