Abstract

A portable communication terminal is provided with a first wireless communication means (102) applicable to a first wireless communication system, and an interface (107) to which an external device (200) is removably connected, and the terminal starts up a communication operation system by using a battery as a power supply. The portable communication terminal is also provided with a judging means (112) and a control means (112). The judging means judges whether the external device (200) connected to the interface (107) is provided with a second wireless communication means (202) which is applicable to a second wireless communication system. When the judging means (112) judges that the external device is provided with the second wireless communication means (202), at the time of re-starting the communication operation system after being stopped due to battery voltage reduction, the control means controls to start up communication operation system by executing start-up sequence of the second wireless communication means (202) without executing start-up sequence of the first wireless communication means (102). Thus, multimode communication is efficiently performed in accordance with the battery voltage, and convenience for the users is improved.
