Abstract

A method for determining a location of a source of interference within a wireless communication system including a plurality of base stations. Each base station is configured to communicate on at least one of a plurality of channels. The method includes selecting a channel and terminating usage of the channel by any of the base stations configured to use the channel. Then, at least a portion of the base stations are configured to monitor the selected channel. After monitoring the channel, usage of the channel by the wireless communication system is resumed. If during monitoring, a signal is received from a source of interference, the received signal is used to determine a location of the interference source. The location may be determined by selecting a signal parameter, such as signal-to-noise ratio, and using the parameter to triangulate between base stations.
