Abstract

A general call method for use in a mobile communication system wherein during a call-up of a mobile station, a plurality of base stations located in a position-registered area in which the mobile station exists call up the mobile station at the same time. In this general call method, a base station host apparatus divides a plurality of base stations in its charge into two or more groups of base stations. When receiving a request of calling up a mobile station, the base station host apparatus determines whether the call-up request is of immediacy. If so, the base station host apparatus instructs all of the base stations to call up the mobile station at the same time. However, if the call-up request is not of immediacy, the base station host apparatus instructs the first group of base stations to call up the mobile station at the same time. If receiving no response from the mobile station, then the base station host apparatus instructs a next group of base stations to call up the mobile station at the same time.
