Abstract

A traffic information transmitter (10) which transmits acquired road traffic information on the situation of congestion etc. to a center (4) is characterized by having: a vehicular swept path acquisition means (22) which acquires the vehicular swept path of a vehicle (1); a map data storage means (16) in which map data is stored; a correlation coefficient arithmetic means (23) which calculates the correlation coefficient of the shape of the vehicular swept path and the shape of a candidate road extracted from the map data; a user's vehicle position finalizing means (24) which excludes candidate paths out of candidates in order of the reduction of the correlation coefficient by a predetermined amount and finalizes the position of the users vehicle on the road in the candidate path remaining finally; and a road traffic information transmission part (15) which transmits the road traffic information to the center in association with the user's vehicle position information on the position of the user's vehicle.
