Abstract

An electric power steering device that can be easily assembled despite reduced height of motor-side connection sections and unit-side connection sections. The steering device has an electric motor (5) for transmitting steering assistance force to a steering shaft (2), to which steering torque is transmitted, via a reduction mechanism inside a reduction gear box (4). The electric motor (5) and a control unit (19), which includes a control board on which a control circuit for controlling drive of the electric motor is mounted, are arranged next to the reduction gear box (4). The motor-side connection sections (5c, 5d) provided on the electric motor (5) and the unit-side connection sections (33a, 33b) provided on the control unit side and capable of being in surface contact with the motor-side connection sections (5c, 5d) are arranged tilted with respect to the direction of the axis of the electric motor. Also, a contact section is provided between the electric motor (5) and the reduction gear box (4), and the contact section allows the position in the axial direction of the electric motor (5) relative to the reduction gear box (4) to be changed at the time of alignment of the electric motor (5) at which time the motor (5) itself is rotated.
