Abstract

A device for retaining sharps includes a sharps retaining block made of a viscid material. The block has an adjacent layer made from material that presents greater resistance than the resistance of the viscid material to penetration by the sharps, and is located substantially opposite a surface of the sharps retaining block designated for sharps insertion. The device also includes at least one elongated handle extending from the sharps retaining block.
