Abstract

The invention relates to a subscriber (3c; 3e) of a communication system (1) comprising a communication medium (2a, 2b) to which the subscriber (3c; 3e) is connected and at least one additional subscriber (3a, 3b, 3d, 3f) that is connected to the communication medium (2a, 2b). The communication system (1) is configured to transmit data between the subscribers (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, 3e, 3f) via the communication medium (2a, 2b). The subscriber (3c; 3e) comprises at least one transceiver unit (6c, 7c; 6e, 7e) for transmitting and/or receiving data via the communication medium (2a, 2b) via at least two separate channels (A, B). In order to facilitate or expedite the transmission of application data in an application phase of the communication system (1), especially without the actual data transmission between the subscribers (3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, 3e, 3f) being influenced by the application, the at least one transceiver unit (6c, 7c; 6e, 7e) of the subscriber (3c; 3e) is configured in such a manner that it uses one of the channels (A) for transmitting and/or transceiving first data and a different channel (B) for transmitting and/or receiving second data, the first and the second data being different when viewed at the same time.
