METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REDIRECTING BASED ON
TCP/IP
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to method and apparatus for redirecting based on TCP
(Transmission Control Protocol)/IP (Internet Protocol), and in particular, to method and apparatus for traffic concentration using redirection based on TCP/IP. Background Art
[2] With spread of Internet, at least one PC (personal computer) is provided at home for accommodating ultraspeed Internet. Recently, for a VOD (Video On Demand) service using ultraspeed Internet, various terminals such as a set-top box and a VoIP (Voice over IP) phone are increasingly provided at home.
[3] For an Internet service and a VOD service, each terminal installed at home should have an IP address assigned thereto. Thus, in comparison with an initial period of Internet using a single PC, currently various terminals are required for a VOD service and so on, and consequently IP addresses are consumed so much, thereby resulting in IP address shortage.
[4] Moreover, a VOD set-top box or PC may be assigned with an IP address whenever it is used, but a VoIP phone terminal should retain an IP address all the time for constantly sending/receiving a call, and thus the IP address shortage becomes severer. For this reason, a scheme is considered that a private IP address is assigned to a terminal installed at home.
[5] In the case that a private IP address is used, it requires a NAPT (Network Address
Port Translation) server which performs a NAPT function for replacing a private IP address with a public IP address or a public IP address with a private IP address. Due to network configuration, the NAPT server performs the NAPT function at a home gateway, i.e. a domestic device. A user who subscribed for a private IP network can connect and communicate normally with a web server having a public IP address located in a public network through the NAPT (or NAT (Network Address Translation)) server.
[6] However, a conventional NAPT server is physically connected in series between a private network and a public network on the network, and thus there is a limitation in constructing a redirection network using the NAPT server. And, because the NAPT server is physically connected in series between the private network and the public network on the network, in the case that a failure occurs to the NAPT server, all communications are stopped and consequently the network is paralyzed.
[7] And, a separate L4 switch is required between terminals for redirection based on
TCP (Transmission Control Protocol)/IP(Internet Protocol), and an L4 switch is required in each redirection point according to network configuration and should be managed individually. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[8] The present invention is designed to solve the problems of the prior art, and therefore it is an object of the present invention to provide method and apparatus for redirecting based on TCP/IP regardless of a physical configuration of network.
[9] Another object of the present invention is to provide method and apparatus for traffic concentration based on TCP/IP. Technical Solution
[10] In order to achieve the above-mentioned objects, an apparatus for redirecting based on TCP (Transmission Control Protocol)/IP (Internet Protocol) according to the present invention comprises a communication processing unit for receiving from a sender terminal a first traffic information replaced by the sender terminal and transmitting a second traffic information including a destination IP address and a destination port number to a destination server thereby to connect the sender terminal to the destination server; and a redirecting unit for when receiving the first traffic information from the sender terminal, replacing a redirecting IP address and a redirecting port number included in the first traffic information with the destination IP address and the destination port number according to a mapping table.
[11] And, a method for redirecting based on TCP (Transmission Control Protocol)/IP
(Internet Protocol) according to the present invention comprises receiving a first traffic information including a redirecting IP address and a redirecting port number replaced by a sender terminal; replacing the redirecting IP address and the redirecting port number with a destination IP address and a destination port number according to a mapping table; and transmitting a second traffic information including the destination IP address and the destination port number to a destination server thereby to connect the sender terminal to the destination server.

[13] FIG. 2 is a block diagram showing an internal configuration of an apparatus for redirecting based on TCP/IP according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[14] FIG. 3 is a flow chart of a method for redirecting based on TCP/IP according to an embodiment of the present invention.
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[15] These and other features, aspects, and advantages of preferred embodiments of the present invention will be more fully described in the following detailed description, taken accompanying drawings, and thus a person having ordinary skill in the prior art can easily incorporate the spirit of the present invention. And, in describing the present invention, in the case that it is judged to unnecessarily make the gist of the present invention unclear, the detailed description may be omitted. Hereinafter, a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[16] FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a schematic configuration of a redirection system based on TCP/IP according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[17] Referring to FIG. 1, the redirection system according to the present invention comprises a sender terminal 110, a redirecting apparatus 120 and a destination server 130.
[18] The sender terminal 110 stores an address redirecting information in a default condition, the address redirecting information including IP addresses (hereinafter referred to as 'redirecting IP addresses') and port numbers (hereinafter referred to as 'redirecting port numbers') of a plurality of redirecting apparatuses 120 corresponding to IP addresses (hereinafter referred to as 'destination IP addresses') and port numbers (hereinafter referred to as 'destination port numbers') of a plurality of destination servers 130, respectively.
[19] When the sender terminal 110 receives a destination IP address and a destination port number for connection to the destination server 130 inputted from the external, the sender terminal 110 replaces the destination IP address and the destination port number with a redirecting IP address and a redirecting port number according to the stored address redirecting information.
[20] Here, the sender terminal 130 transmits a traffic information including the redirecting IP address and the redirecting port number to the redirecting apparatus 120 to connect to the redirecting apparatus 120 and connects to the destination server 130 through the redirecting apparatus 120.
[21] The redirecting apparatus 120 stores a mapping table containing a plurality of destination IP addresses/destination port numbers corresponding to a plurality of redirecting port numbers. When the redirecting apparatus 120 receives the traffic information including the redirecting IP address and the redirecting port number, the redirecting apparatus 120 replaces the redirecting IP address and the redirecting port number of the traffic information with the destination IP address and the destination port number according to the mapping table. And, the redirecting apparatus 120
transmits a traffic information including the destination IP address and the destination port number to the destination server 130 to connect to the destination server 130, so that the sender terminal 110 is connected to the destination server 130. Specifically, the redirecting apparatus 120 detects the destination IP address and the destination port number corresponding to the redirecting port number included in the traffic information in the mapping table and replaces the redirecting IP address and the redirecting port number of the traffic information with the detected destination IP address and the detected destination port number.
[22] Although this embodiment shows that the sender terminal 110 and the redirecting apparatus 120 are separated from each other, preferably the redirecting apparatus 120 is integrally incorporated into the sender terminal 110 as a component of the sender terminal 110. Therefore, preferably a plurality of sender terminals 110 each has a redirecting apparatus 120.
[23] The destination server 130 has a unique IP address and a unique port number based on TCP/IP and may have a database for storing a member information, a billing information, an additive service information and a membership point information.
[24] FIG. 2 is a block diagram showing an internal configuration of the redirecting apparatus based on TCP/IP according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[25] Referring to FIG. 2, the redirecting apparatus 120 according to the present invention includes a communication processing unit 210, an address replacing unit 220 and a table storage unit 230.
[26] The communication processing unit 210 receives from the sender terminal 110 a traffic information including a redirecting IP address and a redirecting port number replaced by the sender terminal 110. And, the communication processing unit 210 transmits to the destination server 130 a traffic information including a destination IP address and a destination port number replaced by the address replacing unit 220 thereby to connect the sender terminal 110 to the destination server 130.
[27] When the address replacing unit 220 receives the traffic information including an IP address and a port number, replaced by the sender terminal 110 through the communication processing unit 210, the address replacing unit 220 replaces the redirecting IP address and the redirecting port number included in the traffic information with the destination IP address and the destination port number according to the mapping table stored in the table storage unit 230.
[28] The table storage unit 230 stores a mapping table containing a plurality of destination IP addresses/destination port numbers corresponding to a plurality of redirecting port numbers.
[29] FIG. 3 is a flow chart of a method for redirecting based on TCP/IP according to an embodiment of the present invention.
[30] Referring to FIG. 3, the sender terminal 110 stores an address redirecting information in a default condition, the address redirecting information including a plurality of redirecting IP addresses and a plurality of redirecting port numbers corresponding to a plurality of destination IP addresses and a plurality of destination port numbers, respectively (S310).
[31] When the sender terminal 110 receives a destination IP address and a destination port number for connection to the destination server 130 inputted from the external, the sender terminal 110 replaces the destination IP address and the destination port number with a redirecting address and a redirecting port number according to the address redirecting information (S320). For example, in the case that 'a destination IP address :a destination port number' is '192.168.200.200:1521' and 'a redirecting IP address:a redirecting port number' is '192.168.100.100:4001', the sender terminal 110 replaces '192.168.200.200:1521' with '192.168.100.100:4001'.
[32] Subsequently, the sender terminal 110 transmits a traffic information including the redirecting IP address and the redirecting port number to the redirecting apparatus 120 thereby to connect to the redirecting apparatus 120 (S330).
[33] The redirecting apparatus 120 replaces the redirecting IP address and the redirecting port number of the traffic information with the destination IP address/destination port number according to the mapping table containing a plurality of destination IP addresses and a plurality of destination port numbers corresponding to a plurality of redirecting port numbers (S340). Specifically, the redirecting apparatus 120 detects the destination IP address and the destination port number corresponding to the redirecting port number included in the traffic information in the mapping table, and replaces the redirecting IP address and the redirecting port number of the traffic information with the detected destination IP address and the detected destination port number. For example, the redirecting apparatus 120 replaces '192.168.100.100:4001' with '192.168.200.200:1521' corresponding to '4001'.
[34] Subsequently, the redirecting apparatus 120 transmits a traffic information including the destination IP address and the destination port number to the destination server 130 thereby to connect to the destination server 130, so that the sender terminal 110 is connected to the destination server 130 (S350).
[35] As such, the preferred embodiments of the present invention are described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, it should be understood that the detailed description and specific examples, while indicating preferred embodiments of the invention, are given by way of illustration only, since various changes and modifications within the spirit and scope of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from this detailed description.
Industrial Applicability
[36] According to the present invention, a user can connect to a desired server regardless of a physical configuration of network, and thus it is possible to perform a central concentration management and a distributed processing and pliably change a transmission path of a desired protocol, thereby processing an arbitrary protocol according to purpose of use. And, a separate hardware is not required to perform a redirecting function, and in the case of traffic error, it is possible to transmit a traffic irrelevant to a corresponding traffic over the network.
