Abstract

An improved thermal puck device (10) is provided to facilitate accurate temperature monitoring of lyophilization chambers, in order to ensure that uniform temperature conditions are established and maintained during lyophilization. The device (10) is formed of thermally conductive material (e.g., brass), and includes one or more bores (14) sized to receive a temperature monitoring unit such as a thermocouple (18). Set screws (28) are used to secure thermocouples (18) within the bores (14). The devices (10) preferably have a substantially flat shelf-contacting surface (22) and have sufficient mass to resist inadvertent movement during lyophilization cycles.
