Description
MULTIFUNCTION AEM FOR A WIRELESS TELEPHONE EARPHONE
D E S C R I P T I O N
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a multifunction arm conceived for adaptation to a wireless telephone earphone.
The object of the invention is for the multifunction arm to have a special geometry for adaptation to the earphone, for the arm to be free to rotate in order to facilitate the orientation of the earphone and for the arm to be provided with attachment means used to couple accessories that facilitate its adjustment to the two ears or its transport in a non- operative situation. In addition, the multifunction arm of the present invention allows incorporating and using additional elements that favour certain functionalities, such as an antenna, microphone, battery, battery charging, temperature biosensors, heart rate sensors, or a small warning vibration device..
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Telephone operators or receptionists use a well- known solution involving an accessory that consists of earphones and a microphone connected to a cable that allow the operators to make and receive calls without having to use their hands.
As an improvement of this type of device are wireless earphones, consisting of transceivers connected
by radio to the telephone, which free the operator entirely from the limitations related to the cable. These elements have a body comprising an earphone and microphone connected to a band that is adapted to and suspended from an ear.
The band is conceived generally with a curved shape and is related to the earphone body in a rigid manner, constituting an assembly that is generally adapted to one of the ears.
The assembly thus defined consists of a block that does not allow separating its component elements, and implies the need to use the band at all times; in addition, it is not easily manageable and transportable, especially due to the size and design of the band.
There currently exist wireless earphones associated to mobile telephones that allow handling calls acting as a hands-free device in which the volume can be adjusted. These devices are commercialised with various designs integrating a speaker and a microphone, and are provided with means for adjustment to the ear mainly based on a special design of the speaker, which is coupled inside the concha of the ear (the hollow of the ear) , while between the tragus and antitragus is placed the small channel towards the earlobe, where the arm of the invention rests; a band embracing the ear may be additionally provided.
The possibility of improving the conditions of support and application of these wireless earphones for indistinct use in either ear make feasible the invention described below,
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The multifunction arm proposed by this invention covers the expectations described above in a satisfactory manner, as it allows adapting the wireless earphone to the ear in operative situation in combination with removable accessory elements, such as a band, as well as allowing its transportation in a simple manner such as hooked on a clothing item or coupled to an accessory that hangs from the mobile telephone with which it is associated .
The multifunction arm mainly comprises an elongated central body extended on one end as an annular sector mounted by friction about an axis of the wireless earphone speaker, free to rotate in this plane to allow its positional adjustment in any orientation, and extended on its other end as an elongated extension provided with a peripheral lip meant to be coupled by clipping, for example, to a band adjustable to the ear or to a cap with a cable that can be hung from the mobile telephone .
The multifunction arm can be used without a band, so that the speaker is coupled inside the concha of the ear and the arm itself rests inclined on the ear, with the tragus placed between the speaker and the arm.
In addition and in order to enhance the positional attachment of the earphone in the ear, it is considered to incorporate the aforementioned band coupled in the elongated extension, which due to the rotational nature of the arm will allow positioning the assembly in either ear.
The elongated central body will normally be
slightly curved next to the base of the earphone, defining a widening between the speaker and the arm that determines a space in which the concha of the ear is placed, In addition, if the arm is orientated in the same direction as the earphone body, the assembly thus positioned can be hooked between the arm and the body of the earphone, such as on a sweater neck, thereby simplifying the transportation of the assembly.
The elongated central body and part of the annular sector extension of said central body are conceived of an elastic material, such as a thermoplastic elastomeric polymer, which allows freeing the speaker shaft of all loads when an accessory is added or removed. Additionally, the elongated central body can be conceived of a stiff material such as aluminium, chromed metal, leather, wood or the like.
On another hand, the elongated extension ends at a stop made of an elastic material that facilitates the introduction and adjustment of the auxiliary parts, compressing slightly.
In addition, the multifunction arm for a wireless telephone earphone of the present invention can incorporate an orifice for inserting a connector for charging the earphone battery. It can also house inside it a battery, a microphone, a biometric sensor providing information on several biological parameters of the user, a vibrator that vibrates when detecting a call or a radio-frequency antenna for transmitting / receiving signals to / from the device.
