Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft blattförmige Wertdokumente mit einem maschinenlesbaren Sicherheitsmerkmal. Die Erfindung betrifft auch Verfahren und Vorrichtungen zur Herstellung oder Prüfung derartiger Wertdokumente. Indem ein blattförmiges Wertdokument mit einem im nicht-sichtbaren Spektralbereich erfaßbaren Code, insbesondere ein Barcode versehen wird, wobei der Barcode eine Codierung zumindest einer meßbaren Eigenschaft des jeweiligen Wertdokuments ist, kann der Barcode kann als Banknoten-individuelle Signatur verwendet werden, wenn sich die verschlüsselten Eigenschaften bei unterschiedlichen Banknoten oder Banknotengruppen unterscheiden. Durch die Verwendung insbesondere von nur im nicht-sichtbaren Spektralbereich erfaßbaren Barcodes ist eine besonders gute Absicherung gegen Fälschungen z.B. in Form von Farbkopien gegeben.
