Abstract

A system for tracking an object within an enclosed space (fig. 1), in which the object is first identified as it enters the space (fig. 1, 40) by means of a high resolution camera monitoring a limited area near the entrance (fig. 1, 10-13) and identifying the object (40) preferably by means of an information coded tag attached to the object. The reminder of the space including the entrance area is equipped with one or more tracking cameras having a lower resolution and generally unable to identify the object, which track the object through the entire space using known method of object tracking.
