Description

METHOD FOR EDITING MOVING PICTURE USING
WIRE OR WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORK
AND THE SYSTEM FOR THE SAME
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a method for editing moving picture using
a wire or wireless communication network and the system for the same, and more
particularly to a method for moving picture edit service using a wire or wireless
communication network and the system therefor, which transmits an image
signal generated by a portable phone with a camera or a digital camcorder to the
server system, stores the image signal in a database, accesses the server system
using a client system and edits the image signal by an edit means of the server
system, reads the edited image signal from the server system and simultaneously
stores the read edited image signal in a movable storage medium such as CD or
DVD.
Background Art
Currently, according to a development of a camcorder, a digital camera, or
a mobile communication terminal with a camera, technology of manufacturing individual moving picture data, and keeping or transmitting the manufactured
individual moving picture data to other persons is greatly required.
Conventionally, only experts having technical knowledge need or can
photograph and edit moving pictures. However, common persons regard them as
they need or can do. So as to do this, a plurality of editing hardware and
software has been developed.
However, in order to purchase such as editing hardware and software, it
continuously costs. In addition, when common persons use the editing software,
additional educations and skilled use methods for a computer are needed. Moreover, in the case of a mobile communication terminal with a camera
always carried by a user, it has a limit in a storage capacity. Accordingly, in
order to continuously keep a photographed image signal, the photographed image
signal should be transferred and stored into a computer using means such as an
USB port. In addition, when a moving picture that a common person wants to keep
is an analog image signal, in order to convert the analog image signal into a
digital image signal, and to store the converted digital image signal, a user should
receive an additional edit service from an expert. This causes the common
person who does not need a moving picture of an expert level to pay an excessive
expense. Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to solve at least the
problems and disadvantages of the background art. It is an object of the present
invention to provide a moving picture edit service using a wire or wireless
communication network, which transmits an image signal generated by a
portable phone with a camera or a digital camcorder to the server system, stores
the image signal in a database, and directly edit the stored image signal by a
member who stored the image signal afterward.
Disclosure of Invention
According to one aspect of the present invention, the present invention
provides a method for editing moving picture using a wire or wireless
communication network for editing and outputting an image signal photographed
by an image photograph means in the server system, the method comprising the
steps for: (a) receiving a digital image signal photographed by a digital image
photograph means by means of a communication means using a wire or wireless
communication network; (b) demodulating or converting the digital image signal
received by the communication means into a bipolar signal, and transmitting the
signal at high speed to the server system; (c) appending a member's moving
picture database address to the digital image signal, and storing the digital image
signal to which the member's moving picture database address is appended in a corresponding moving picture database by the server system; (d) receiving an
authenticated member's reading signal, reading out the digital image signal
stored in the moving picture database, and displaying the read digital image
signal on a display module of a client system over a wire or wireless
communication network, by the sever system; (e) uniformly dividing the digital
image signal read from the moving picture database by predetermined
programmed time or a predetermined size ratio by an edit means or dividing the
read digital image signal by a start or end point designation signal inputted in a
client system, producing an image clip, and adding an index information to the
image clip; (f) appending background information to the image clip by a client
system based on an input edit signal, again determining an order of the image
clip, and reconstituting the image clip; (g) storing the divided and reconstituted
edit moving picture information and image clip information in the moving
picture database by the edit means; and (h) transmitting the edit moving picture
information stored in the moving picture database to a client system connected to
a wire or wireless communication network, and reproducing the edit moving
picture information by a display module.
According to another aspect of the present invention, the present invention
provides a method for editing moving picture using a wire or wireless
communication network for editing and outputting an image signal photographed
by an image photograph means in the server system, the method comprising the steps for (a) converting an analog image signal photographed by an analog image
photograph means into a digital image signal by a client system having a format
conversion module, and receiving the converted digital image signal by a
communication means using a wire or wireless communication network; (b)
converting the received digital image signal into a parallel signal or a bipolar
signal, and transmitting the converted signal at high speed to the server system by
the communication means; (c) appending a member's moving picture database
address to the digital image signal, and storing the digital image signal to which
the member's moving picture database address is appended in a corresponding
moving picture database by the server system; (d) receiving an authenticated
member's reading signal, reading out the digital image signal stored in the
moving picture database, and displaying the read digital image signal on a
display module of a client system over a wire or wireless communication
network, by the sever system; (e) uniformly dividing the digital image signal read
from the moving picture database by predetermined programmed time or a
predetermined size ratio by an edit means or dividing the read digital image
signal by a start or end point designation signal inputted in a client system,
producing an image clip, and adding an index information to the image clip; (f)
appending background information to the image clip by a client system based on
an input edit signal, again determining an order of the image clip, and
reconstituting the image clip; (g) storing the divided and reconstituted edit moving picture information and image clip information in the moving picture
database by the edit means; and (h) transmitting the edit moving picture
information stored in the moving picture database to a client system connected to
a wire or wireless communication network, and reproducing the edit moving
picture information by a display module.
Preferably, the method further comprises the step for reading out the edit
moving picture signal stored in the moving picture database by the server system
based on an edit correction signal inputted from a client system, and correcting
the order of the image clip and again editing the image clip. Preferably, the method further comprises the step for reading out and
transmitting the edit moving picture information stored in the moving picture
database to an output system, and storing the edit moving picture information in a
movable storage medium by a movable storage medium generator of the output
system. Preferably, the sever system appends the image clip or the edit moving
picture information stored in the moving picture database, or records and
transfers a media server address of each image clip or edit moving picture
information through an electronic mail, and outputs the media server address to a
streaming service. In the embodiment, the method further comprises the step of receiving
feedback information having a ripple or an estimating point inputted after the reading of the image clip or the edit moving picture by the server system using a
client system, determining an order of each image clip or edit moving picture
based on the feedback information, and storing the feedback information and the
order in the moving picture database. In the embodiment, in step (h), a client system is a mobile communication
terminal.
As illustrated above, the present invention has an effect in that a member
remotely reads and edits a photographed image signal stored in a moving picture
database in a streaming manner at any time, and stores and keeps it in a movable
storage medium such as CD or DVD.
The present invention has a further effect in that a member who stored an
image signal in the moving picture database can easily perform an image edit by
an automatic edit method without technical education.
The present invention has another effect in that the present invention is
free from a storage capacity of a mobile communication terminal with a camera
because a moving picture photographed by the mobile communication terminal is
stored in a moving picture database of the server system at any time.

system using a wire or wireless communication network of an analog image
signal in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 5 is a
detail view showing a construction of a moving picture edit method in
accordance with the present invention.
Hereinafter, a moving picture edit service providing system using a wire
or wireless communication network of a digital image signal in accordance with
the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. 2. The moving picture edit service providing system includes a digital image
photograph means (10), a communication means (30), a database (70), an edit
means (50), a server system (60), a client system (80), and an output system (90).
The digital image photograph means (10) includes a mobile
communication terminal having a camera for generating a digital image signal,
and a camera such as a digital camera or a digital camcorder for generating a
digital image signal.
The communication means (30) includes a modem and a digital service
unit (DSU). The modem receives analog data transmitted from the digital image
photograph means (10) through a wire or wireless communication network, and
demodulates the received analog data to digital data. The digital service unit
receives and converts a serial unipolar signal into a parallel unipolar signal.
The database (70) includes a member database and a plurality of moving
picture databases. The member database stores users' member information to be
used by users that is registered in a moving picture edit service using a wire or
wireless communication network. The plurality of moving picture databases
store the moving picture information transmitted from image photograph means
(10 and 20) to have different addresses by members.
Preferably, the moving picture databases are constituted so that other
member accesses the server system (60) using a client system, reads an image
clip or an edit moving picture from the server system (60), and stores feedback information such as a ripple or an estimating point, and order information
determined based on the feedback information.
Furthermore, the database (70) interlocks with the server system (60) to
easily read out and store member information and moving picture information. The edit means (50) includes a database and an edit program. The
database stores background information such as a background music, title,
caption, effect image, sound, or static image. A user edits a moving picture using
the edit program. At this time, a service enterpriser can update the background
information stored in the database (70) in a predetermined period. Moreover, a
user uploads the background information to the server system so that the user or
other persons can use the background information.
Here, the edit program is composed of an automatic edit program and a
manual edit program. The automatic edit program is used to automatically and
uniformly divide the moving picture information uploaded by a member into
detailed image clip pieces. A member accessing the server system (60) using a
client system (80) divides moving picture information into an image clip by
designating start and end points of a desired image clip while reading moving
picture information by using the manual edit program.
Furthermore, the edit program and the background information are stored
in a recording medium such as a compact disc, and then the recording medium
can be transferred to a member. The member can access the server system (60) through a client system (80), and download the edit program and the background
from the server system (60).
The server system (60) receives moving picture information through the
communication means (30), and stores it in the database (70). The server system
(60) further authenticates a user who accesses the server system (6O) using a
client system (80). When the moving picture information stored in the database
(70) exceeds predetermined amount, the server system (60) transmits the moving
picture information to the output system (90), thereby storing it in a movable
storage medium such as CD or DVD. In order to perform these, the server
system (60) is connected to the communication means (30), the database (70),
and the edit means (50). Further, the server system (60) is connected to a
member's client system (80) through a wire or wireless communication network.
A client system (80) is composed of a personal computer or a mobile
communication terminal. The personal computer or the mobile communication
terminal includes a communication device that may access the server system (60)
using a wire or wireless communication network. The personal computer or the
mobile communication terminal further includes a display means for outputting
the moving picture information stored in the moving picture database, and
reading it in a streaming manner. The output system (90) includes a communication device, a display means,
and a CD/DVD writer. The communication device is connected to the server system (60). The display means displays the moving picture information stored
in the moving picture database. The CD/DVD writer is a movable storage
medium generator for storing the moving picture information in a movable
storage medium such as CD or DVD. Here, the output system (90) can be designed to be included in a client
system (80) to have the CD/DVD writer. Further, the output system (90) can be
installed at a convenience store so that members can easily use it.
A moving picture edit service providing method using a wire or wireless
communication network of a digital image signal in accordance with the present
invention will be now explained.
As shown in FIG. 1, the moving picture edit service providing method
according to the present invention includes a digital image signal generating step
(S10), a digital image signal transmitting step (S20), an address setting and
storing step (S30), a moving picture information reading step (S40), an image
clip generating step (S50), an image clip reconstituting step (S60), an edit
moving picture storing step (S70), and an edit moving picture reading step (S80) .
In addition to this, the moving picture edit service providing method includes an
edit moving picture correcting step (S90) of correcting an edited moving picture,
a feedback information generating step (SI 00) of receiving and storing feedback
information such as a ripple or an estimating point that other person reads an image clip and inputs, and a movable storage medium outputting step (SllO) of
storing and keeping the edited moving picture in a movable storage medium.
The digital image signal generating step (S10) transmits a digital image
signal photographed by using a digital image photograph means (10) such as a
digital camera, a digital camcorder, or a mobile communication terminal having a
camera to the server system (60) through a service enterpriser's communication
means (30) over a wire or wireless communication network.
At this time, in a case of the mobile communication terminal having a
camera, the photographed digital image signal can be directly transmitted to the
server system (60) by means of a communication device of the mobile
communication terminal. In a case of a device such as the digital camera or the
digital camcorder that cannot directly access a communication network, after the
digital image signal is transmitted to a client system having a communication
device using an interface device such as an USB port, it is transmitted to the
communication means (30) using a communication device of a client system.
In the digital image signal transmitting step (S20), a modem demodulates
a digital image signal transmitted to the communication means (30). Otherwise,
a digital service unit converts the digital image signal into a parallel bipolar
signal. Thereafter, the modulated signal or the parallel bipolar signal is
transmitted to the server system (60) at high speed. In the address setting and storing step (S30), the server system (60)
appends a member's moving picture data address to the digital image signal
transmitted from the communication means (30), and stores the same in a
corresponding moving picture database. Preferably, the moving picture database is a data storage region assigned
to a member who has registered in an edit service to use it. Furthermore, a
service enterpriser sets a specific address to each database in order to easily
perform storage and reading operation for the server system (60).
In the moving picture information reading step (S40), where a member
accessing the server system (60) reads and edits stored moving picture
information, after the member receives a member's reading signal from the
server system (60) and reads storage information of a corresponding moving
picture database, the member transmits the read storage information to a client
system (80) that an authenticated member accesses the server system (60) over a
wire or wireless communication network.
In this case, a client system (80) receives and displays the moving picture
information using a display module. At this time, preferably, the moving picture
information is reproduced and displayed in a streaming manner capable of
reproducing and displaying the moving picture information in real time without
download. Moreover, a billing step of paying an usage expense of a moving picture
edit service according to the present invention that the member stores, displays,
edits, and transmits moving picture information using the server system, can be
added. In this case, it is designed to bill all the services that a member has used.
Further, it can be designed to bill a moving picture service for a predetermined
time period upon registering the member.
The image clip generating step (S50) divides the digital mage signal into
detailed pieces being a plurality of image clips by an automatic edit or a manual
edit. The automatic edit uniformly divides the digital image signal stored in the
moving picture database by a predetermined programmed time or size ratio. A
member divides the digital image signal into detailed pieces being a plurality of
image clips by the manual edit. The manual edit divides the digital image signal
to directly designate start and end points thereof while displaying and reading the
digital image signal on a display means of a client system (80). When an automatic edit selection signal is inputted to a client system (80),
and a client system (80) transmits a division time or size ratio of an image signal
selected by the member, the server system (60) divides the read digital image
signal into image clips, each having a corresponding division ratio according to
contents programmed at an edit means, and displaying the divided image clips as
a unit frame called Thumbnail so that a member distinguishes image clips from
each other. The Thumbnail is used to easily and quickly see or manage much amount
of image clips by displaying respective image clips as a small image.
Furthermore, when a manual edit selection signal is inputted to a client
system (80), the server system (60) activates the edit means, causing displaying
the digital image signal on a display means of a client system (80). The member
generates the image clips by means of the display means while reading the digital
image signal being reproduced by the display means.
That is, when the member designates start and end points of an image
signal while displaying the image signal, the server system (60) receives a
member's point designation signal, and divides the digital image signal into
detailed pieces of the image clips, and indicates Thumbnail as the image clips.
The divided image clips by the automatic edit or the manual edit can be
divided into a plurality of lower image clips smaller than the divided image clips.
Through the aforementioned procedures, the digital image signal stored in the
moving picture database is divided into a small-capacity of a plurality of image
clips and the lower image clips that are composed of only image information
which the member wants.
At this time, the member can input various information at respective
image clips by a key operation of a client system (80). The various input
information can be used as index information or to manage or display the image
clips. As illustrated in FIG. 6, the image clip reconstituting step (S60)
reconstitutes an order of the image clips produced by the automatic edit or the
manual edit. During the reconstitution of the image clips, by an edit signal
inputted from a client system (80), background information such as title, caption,
effect image, background music, or sound included in the edit means (40) can be
appended to the image clips.
Here, the regenerated moving picture can be composed small-capacities of
a plurality of image clips or a large capacity of one image.
The edit moving picture storing step (S70) stores the digital image signal
in the moving picture database. The digital image signal is obtained by
reconstituting and editing the image clips by means of the edit means. At this
time, it is desirable to store an edited image signal, an editing image signal, or a
non-edited image signal to discriminate from one another.
When the edit moving picture reading step (S80) transmits the edit
moving picture stored in the moving picture database to a client system (80)
which accesses the server system (60) over a wire or wireless communication
network, a display means reproduces the edit moving picture so that the member
reads the reproduced edit moving picture.
Accordingly, when a client system is a personal computer, the member
accesses the server system (60) using a wire communication network, and then
reads the edit moving picture on a web. In contrast to this, when a client system is a note book computer, the member accesses the server system (60) using a
wireless communication network, and then reads the edit moving picture on a
web. Further, when a client system is a mobile communication terminal, the
member reads the edit moving picture over the wireless communication network,
and uses the read edit moving picture as mobile contents.
The edit moving picture correcting step (S90) reads out the edit moving
picture stored in the moving picture database based on an edit con-ection signal
transmitted from a client system (80), which is connected to the server system
(60) over a wire or wireless communication network, and corrects and edits an
order of the reconstituted image clip.
In the feedback information generating step (SI 00), after other person
accesses the server system (60) using a client system and reads an image clip and
an edit moving picture, other persons input a ripple or an estimating point for a
corresponding image clip or edit moving picture, the inputted ripple or estimating
point are stored in a moving picture database or a special database.
Furthermore, the image clips and the edit moving picture can be
transferred to other member or other person selected by the member by an
electronic mail to which small-capacity of an image clip is appended or having a
media (or streaming server) address. The image clips and the edit moving picture
are read through such an electronic mail and input feedback information such as
a ripple or an estimating point is stored in the moving picture database. As described above, when external feedback information is transmitted to
the server system, the server system receives the feedback information and
informs a generation of the feedback information and simple contents to a
member's mobile communication terminal. Here, an order of respective image clips and edit moving picture can be
determined based on feedback information with respect to the image clips and the
edit moving picture. Further, the member can reconstitute image clips based on
the determined order.
In the movable storage medium outputting step (Sl lO), the server system
(60) reads out and transmits the edit moving picture stored in the moving picture
database to the output system (90) so that the edited moving picture can be stored
in a movable storage medium such as a compact disc (CD) or a digital video disc
(DVD).
In the output system (90), a communication device receives the edit
moving picture, a display device confirms the received edit moving picture, and a
movable storage medium generator such as CD/DVD writer included in the
output system (90) copies the edit moving picture to make CD or DVD.
A digital image signal is stored in the CD or DVD by the server system
(60) which received a conversion request to a member's storage medium. Also,
the storage of the digital image signal can be automatically performed by a set
program in the server system (60) wherein the server system (60) confirmed that the moving picture stored in the moving picture database is equal to or greater
than a predetermined capacity.
The CD or DVD is delivered to an address requested by a member so that
the member can possess it. Otherwise, the member asks a keeping center to keep
the CD or DVD. When special problems such as the member's death occur, the
CD or DVD is delivered to a successor and is used as will data. Furthermore, the
CD or DVD can be delivered to a third person designated by the member and
used as a present or introducing data. The CD or DVD is delivered to a
convenience store so that members can use it, and the delivery result is informed
to a member's mobile communication terminal.
An output system having the CD/DVD writer is installed at a convenience
store or a PC center. A member downloads the digital image signal using the
output system, and makes CD or DVD with contents of the digital image signal.
Hereinafter, a system and a method for embodying a moving picture
service using a wire or wireless communication network of an analog image
signal in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention will be
described.
First, the system for embodying a moving picture service using a wire or
wireless communication network of an analog image signal will be explained by
reference to FIG. 4. The system includes an analog image photograph means (20), a format
conversion module (40), a communication means (30), a database (70), an edit
means (50), a server system (60), a client system (80), and an output system (90).
The analog image photograph means (20) includes a camcorder or a video
tape which generates an analog image signal representing a moving picture.
The format conversion module (40) includes an analog video capture card
for digitalizing the analog image signal to a digital image signal to convert a
format of an image signal. An output device is connected to the analog video
capture card, and reads out recording contents of a video tape or a camcorder
tape in which general analog moving picture information is stored.
In this case, it is preferred that the camcorder tape or the video tape in
which general analog moving picture information is stored is transferred to a
service enterpriser through an off-line.
The communication means (30), the database (70), the edit means (50),
the server system (60), a client system (80), and the output system (90) perform
the same functions as those in the system of a moving picture edit service using a
wire or wireless communication network of a digital image signal.
Next, the method for embodying a moving picture service using a wire or
wireless communication network of an analog image signal will be explained by
reference to FIG. 3. In the analog image signal conversion step (Sll), an output device reads
out and transmits an analog image signal photographed by an analog image
photograph means (20) such as a camcorder or a video camera to the format
conversion module (40). The analog video capture card of the format conversion
module (40) digitalizes the analog image signal into a digital image signal to
convert a format of an image signal.
Here, although the image signal can be changed in various formats, a
preferable format of the image signal is an MPEG-2 which is a recording format
of DVD or MPEG-4 which is widely used for a multi-media communication. The analog image signal converted by the format conversion module (40)
is transmitted to the server system (60) using a client system having a
communication device. The communication device of a client system is
connected to the format conversion module (40), and can access the server
system (60) over a wire or wireless communication network. After the image signal is transmitted to the server system (60), it is edited
and outputted by the same procedure as that in the aforementioned moving
picture service using a wire or wireless communication network of a digital
image signal.
The invention being thus described, it will be obvious that the same may
be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure
from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of
the following claims.
