[Invention Title]
Integral Computer having Folding Type Monitor
[DESCRIPTION]
This invention involves computer systems incorporating an LCD type monitor having folding mounting system, a hinge system connecting the monitor to the side of the computer.
[Technical Field]
Normally computer system set-ups incorporates a computer and monitor separately, with computer cables connecting the monitor and computer; monitor power connection cables connecting the power port to the computer power port.
Existing LCD monitors take up much less space than regular cathode ray tube computer monitors but still need a stand for installation causing the same amount of space to be used whether the computer is in use or not. Also at least one cable is necessary to connect the computer and monitor, thus consuming additional space and being unappealing to the eye.
Additionally the delivery and packaging of separate computer and monitor plus stand consumes more space and is most costly.
Recently to solve the abovementioned problems a number of design concepts have been introduced. Figure 1 shows a computer design that has a CPU, RAM and HDD built into the standing part of the monitor (100) and the backside computer (10) of the LCD (20). Figure 2 shows an alternative design with the computer (10) and the LCD connected to the wide part of the computer with connection by way of a pivot joint system.
Figure 1, the computer and monitor are sharing one body, so the heat from the LCD causes bad effect to the CPU. To avoid heating problem, the company has to use special hard wear to build it.
The computer of Figure 2 takes same space as monitor, even the computer is not used, the computer must to be installed face forward.

[Technical Problem]
The problems outlined above can be solved with the Integral Computer Folding Type Monitor. When using the computer, the monitor can be unfolded and when not in use the monitor can be folded away. The Integral Computer Folding Type Monitor makes efficient use of desk space by use of its hinged mounting system.
When the computer monitor is unfolded, no heat affects the CPU because the heat is directed in a different direction. In addition the Integral Computer Folding Type Monitor is not restricted to one side of the computer but offers an opportunity to be installed on either side of the computer.
[Technical Solution]
To achieve the objectives of the invention, the computer must have an LCD Monitor and a hinged folding mounting unit that can be attached to either side of the CPU. Additionally the hinge part can be rotated in an Up/Down and Left/Right movement. Two hinge systems are needed to give a full rotation facility. The hinge can be installed on either side of computer and will give the same full rotation facility no matter which side it is installed.
The cables and connections are installed inside the hinge section of the computer.
The hinge section also contains the computer input and output ports with the cables between the computer and the LCD monitor inside the hinge section. The cables are not visible as they are encased in the hinge area.
5
No matter which side the monitor is installed the LCD can be rotated 180 degrees to the required position. Output components have to be installed on both sides of the 0 computer so that the LCD can be installed on either side, for example at least one output port has to be cpnnected to the LCD monitor.
Inline the above description the computer and monitor can be connected without seeing the cables. You can also install the monitor and the computer separately by 5 using the computer output ports using cables. You can use the LCD, OLED and TFT display that is compatible with the Integral Computer Folding Type Monitor computer.
The LCD and Monitor connection requires screws but it is possible to join it with other methods such that it creates a sturdy connection. 0
To protect the hinge 1 and 2, more than one stand is required to support the weight of the monitor.
For the protection of the folding hinges, it is possible for the monitor to have a stand.
It is possible to make the monitor stand foldable. 5
In the paragraph below, we will describe in detail the components as noted in the attached with figures.
Figure 3 shows a rear view of a left side mounted monitor. In the figure, it is 0 possible to see that the computer has the Hinge recess on both sides (11, 12). The monitor in the figure also shows the monitor with the connectable bracket (2). The Hinge joint (11) of the Computer (1) are connected to the hinge bracket (34) and the monitor (2) which connects the joining plate (31) that has the ability to swivel up/down through hinge 1 (33) and left/right through hinge 2 (32). These hinges make up the 5 entire Folding Hinge System (3). To make the computer unit stable, the hinge (3) and the materials used should be sufficiently sturdy to support the weight of the monitor (2). The monitor can also have a stand to minimize the weight from the hinge (3) with the parts (32, 33).
0 In Figure 4 a right side angle can be observed. As in Figures 1 and 2 the computer can be joined on both sides (11, 12) and the first hinge (33) can be unfolded when in
5 use and folded when not. It also shows that mounting points (11, 12) have power sockets (114, 124) and monitor connection cable output (113, 123), this is to input the connect part (31) on the computer.
Figure 5 shows how the monitor is connected with the hinges. As shown in this 0 figure the hinge part (3) can be adjusted with hinge 2 (32) to change the view of the monitor (2) for the user. The vertical hinge (34), which is connected to the computer must have a power input (344, 346) and the video input (343,345) cable to connect the two. This vertical hinge has holes and screws (341) to connect the monitor to the computer. 5
Figure 6 shows the entire hinge component. The joining plate that is connected to the joint part of monitor (31) must have power output (314) and the video output (313) for the monitor. This part should have connection ports (315, 316) so that when it is in use on the opposite side it can be connected. Screws (312) and holes are also 0 found on this joining plate.
Figure 7 shows the backside of the monitor where the hinge jointing plate can be connected and the associated connection ports. The monitor (2) has a connection plate (21) and on this part (21) there are power input ports (23, 24) and holes (22) for 5 the screws to connect the hinge plate. The output port (313 or 314) in the connection plate and the input port (23, 24) in the monitor should have an electric matching connection between ports shown in Figures 6 and 7.
Figure 8a shows the cross section of the hinge joint and shows how the hinge is 0 connected. The connection hinge must have screws (312) to connect it to the monitor for which the holes can be seen in Figure 8A. Hinge 2 (32) is to provide Up/Down movement, with Hinge 1 (31) providing Right/Left movement. Inside the connection there are electric wires to connect the monitor and the computer.
5 Figure 8b shows a vertical view of the connection part. The connection part has electrical connectivity from connecting hinge (34) of the computer to out put port (313 or 316) and the hinge plate (31) to the monitor.
Figure 9 is an example of the computer and the monitor without a connection plate. In this configuration it is impossible to use the input and outputs on the connection hinge and thus cables are required. 5
Figure 10 shows the connection where the cables are not concealed inside the joint. A direct connection can be made as with regular computers. The computer (1) and monitor (2) can be connected with power cable (25) and video cable (26) without cables being inside joint unit. 0
There are many of configurations to use The Integral Computer having Folding Type Monitor, the attached are but a few.
5 [Advantageous Effects]
The Integral Computer having Folding Type Monitor offers space efficiency through the use of a hinged mounting system. When using the computer, the monitor can be unfolded and when not in use the monitor can be folded away. When the computer 0 monitor is unfolded, no heat affects the CPU because the heat is directed in a different direction. The Integral Computer having Folding Type Monitor is not restricted to one side of the computer but gives a choice to install on both sides of the computer.
Since the Integral Computer having Folding Type Monitor can be shipped with the 5 computer and monitor connected, it takes less space than other computers and thus minimizes the cost to delivery.
