Abstract

A method for receiving electronic media from a remote server over a network using a local server is provided. The remote server is contacted via the network, and electronic media available on the remote server is selected for a proposed transaction. A proposed transaction token is received from the remote server, and stored locally using the local server, the proposed transaction token identifying the electronic media and an owner location identifier associated with the owner of the electronic media. The local server obtains a payment authorization from a settlement house to submit payment to the owner of the electronic media, and upon obtaining the authorization, the local server submits a transaction request, including the payment authorization, to the remote server, and receives the electronic media from the remote server, Upon authorization of the transaction, the settlement house sends a notice or payment to the owner identified by the owner location identifier.
