Abstract

The picture frame is a mechanical frame that is able to receive 2 Dimensional or 3 Dimensional image data through a satellite, a telephone or a wireless channel. The frame has a battery or a light energy source, can be hung on a wall, and does not need a cable for an external power supply. The frame contains a satellite receiver or a pager receiver. When the receiver receives image data it can store it and then display it as a true color picture on the frame. The frame can be used at any home or other place. The sender of information can be any library of image data. This enables using a satellite or other sender to send images, such the Mona Lisa, a Monet painting or a photograph, and using the frame to receive and store the images, and display them.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The Frame contains a wireless Access.
In 3G, applications are the key
3rd Generation technology is thrusting ahead the convergence of services, triggering a revolution in personal communications more profound than any since the invention of the telephone.
With wireless communications, data communications and the Internet coming ever closer together, the world is evolving quickly towards the mobile information society. In the very near future, most personal communications - phone calls, data images and live video - will be wireless.
The new mobile information society will be driven by applications, not technology. Open- standard-based technologies will combine to enable the creation of an IP platform on which a vast range of new services and applications can be built. So more importantly than technology compatibility, the focus will be on information compatibility.
At the same time, the 3rd generation will open up new opportunities for network operators, bring new players such as content providers into the mobile multimedia market, and offer end-users new services and applications - many of them as yet inconceivable today - that enhance their personal and business lives.
The Internet in everyone's pocket, and more
The mobile information society will make it possible for large numbers of people to benefit from three factors coming together in a revolutionary way. Digitalization of all content. Internet as a worldwide distribution and information medium, accessible to almost everyone. And mobility made possible by mobile phones and wireless devices.
A greater freedom in life is just over the horizon, offering access to personal services irrespective of location and device. Services that transform passive content into active functionality. Services that command a profitable premium for their providers.
Digital content will be matched to suit the device, so that mediaphones, laptops, PDAs and other devices can access multimedia information, practically anytime and anywhere. The mobile phone becomes a personal trusted device, the portal to each individual's unique needs.
In 3G, each user will have his or her set of services tailored to individual tastes and accessed via a personalized mobile portal. These profile settings will also change depending on access conditions. And since all communication is independent of the person's location, information content is displayed according to the capabilities of the terminal in question. Every user can even create their own content including video, animations, still images, voice and text.
All information is digital. Content and functionality are what people are ready to pay for.
Imagination is the key to differentiation
Whatever the service, 3rd generation networks will be able to support it, shifting the emphasis from technology to applications. But forget the single "killer" application. There is no single killer application because people have different interests and are willing to pay for different things. Instead, think "killer environment," within which a huge range of services and applications can be developed and offered.
Using powerful new development tools, operations and content providers can create applications targeted at both mass and small niche markets. Pull, push, transactional or background services. And charge for those services according to the data speed, time, access point and the value of content.
There are thousands of possible digital applications and new opportunities: in business, home, travel, fun and entertainment, security, telemedicine, telemetry and processes. From information services such as traffic reports, airline and train schedules and weather data, through to transactional interactive services like on-line banking, electronic commerce and easy Internet access - all these will be available virtually anywhere, any time.
Many tasks that previously required physical presence can now be handled while on the move, giving freedom and virtual presence.
With imaging going mobile, real-time video clips and video postcards can be sent in just a few seconds. In 3G, credit cards, direct debit cards and wallets are all integrated into a 3G terminal. At home, the 3G terminal could become a universal remote control, communicating with home appliances that range from microwave ovens to VCRs.
Business opportunities beyond all imagination
The shift to the mobile information society and to an applications-driven approach is fast creating a new landscape for all those involved in the value chain.
Network operations need to determine their approach to this new environment. Some will ultimately offer bandwidth to third-party service and content providers to support the new services, while others will become content providers and service developers in their own right. Regardless of the strategy, there will be significant benefits for all operators in terms of revenue and customer retention.
Content providers are presented with a whole galaxy of opportunities to explore an entirely new distribution channel with scope to provide new products and services commanding premium prices.
New players will look for their paces in the market, software houses, content providers, advertisers, travel companies, banks, bookstores, and many others. New service models, mobile services and user segments will emerge to replace or complement the existing ones.
The mobile network will also become a powerful advertising medium, offering the operation yet another revenue stream, and the advertiser a mobile multimedia access to the consumer's mind. Mass marketing will evolve into a true on-to-one approach. The key is knowing each individual's need - and their phone number.
The winners will be those who begin the deployment of wireless data services now - not by applying yesterday's business strategies to tomorrow's mobile information society, but by learning to think the unthinkable. Be the first, with the first
Nokia is leading the development of the technologies and standards required to build tomorrow's applications platforms, and to be the first, you need to go with the first.
GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, mobile IP and Wireless LAN are enabling network technologies that will play a key role in bringing about the mobile information society.
GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) brings cost effective data connectivity to the Internet and company intranets. Session set-up is nearly instantaneous, while high bit rates enable revolutionary personal and business applications.
WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) gives new, attractive Mobile Multimedia services for both corporations and individuals.
WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) extends the corporate LANs and enables reliable communication and access to corporate information with high speed.
WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) makes the Internet mobile and enables new, interactive services with the mobile phone.
WWW:MMM - Mobile Media Mode is a new universal marketing symbol that simplifies the introduction and recognition of emerging Mobile Internet services.
Bluetooth - technology that lets users connect to a wide range of devices in a totally digital environment.
EPOC - the operating system developed by Symbian that turns voice - oriented handsets into mediaphones and beyond.
Nokia's profound understanding of the needs and demands of the consumer and corporate markets, acquired through its leadership position in the mobile phone market, offers exceptional benefits to operators and content providers looking to identify new applications and services. Our complete solution including infrastructure elements, service creation platforms, terminals and services to integrate and manage these components, ensures the smooth transition of today's network to 3rd generation networks.
Whatever your telecommunications business focus may be today and into the next millennium, look no further for the perfect partner. Nokia has it all, from end-to-end, for 3G.

Claims

What is claimed is:
1. A frame, that can be used at any place where wireless images can be received, for receiving image data.
2. A frame as in claim 1 that can store image data for a few hours or days.
3. The Frame does not have a sender, just a receiver. It can receive image data wirelessly. Instead of buying pictures the user can buy just frames and receive images on it wirelessly.
4. A mechanical frame that is able to electronically receive 2 Dimensional or 3 Dimensional image data, store it and display it as a true color picture.
