  • the credit card 10 of the present invention reduces the incidence of credit card fraud, because it provides a more foolproof method to identify the authorized user of a credit card.

Abstract

Carte de crédit (10) émise au nom d'un utilisateur autorisé et ressemblant à une carte de crédit conventionnelle, étant toutefois un peu plus épaisse pour loger des composants électroniques qui permettent à la carte de lire (11) une première fois l'empreinte digitale de l'utilisateur autorisé, de stocker ensuite la 'signature' de cette empreinte et d'afficher (12) sur la carte une demande d'introduire le numéro d'identification personnel (NIP). Le dispositif d'affichage indiquera 'NIP # O.K.', lorsque la même empreinte digitale sera lue de nouveau. La carte de crédit est munie d'une puce électronique, placée dans un creux, qui inclut une mémoire et un microprocesseur. Elle est équipée d'un lecteur conventionnel d'empreintes digitales et d'un dispositif d'affichage tel qu'un écran à cristaux liquides.
