  • the VLR of the invention preferably uses the subscriber's PCIC within the local profile record to choose the destination IXC 121. As the addresses of the gateways to the IXC's are fixed within the network, the VLR of the invention can complete the call without communicating with the HLR as shown in steps 350 of the diagram of Fig. 4. These steps include call proceeding signaling and alert and connect signaling, followed by transmission of data and/or voice conversation. The selected IXC network then completes the call to the appropriate local exchange carrier (LEC) 131 corresponding to the called number.

Abstract

Cette invention se rapporte à un réseau de télécommunications sans fil servant à établir un trajet d'appel vers une passerelle d'interface préférée choisie parmi une ou plusieurs passerelles d'interfaces reliant d'autres réseaux fournissant des services vers des destinations d'appels ne se trouvant pas sur ce réseau sans fil. Ce réseau sans fil fournit des communications sous format GSM et comprend plusieurs registres de positions visiteurs (106) ayant chacun une base de données locale, et au moins une base de données commune (110) contenant des informations relatives à plusieurs abonnés mobiles (101). Au moins une partie des données relatives à l'abonné dans la base de données commune est transcrite dans la base de données locale. Les données ainsi transcrites contiennent une désignation correspondant à la sélection par l'abonné d'un réseau de transmission par fil à utiliser pour les destinations d'appels situées à l'extérieur du réseau sans fil. Cette désignation est utilisée pour établir le trajet d'appel pour les appels sortant vers les destinations situées à l'extérieur du réseau sans fil.
