Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé qui permet d'améliorer la résolution avec laquelle la localisation géographique d'une station mobile d'un système de téléphone cellulaire mobile peut être déterminée. Des signaux émis par des stations de base de cellules sont périodiquement contrôlés par la station mobile pour la génération de données qui identifient la position de la station mobile avec une précision de l'ordre de 200 mètres. Cette donnée de position est ensuite comparée avec des données topographiques qui représentent les itinéraires de transport dans la région à l'intérieur de laquelle la station mobile est située. Si l'on suppose que la station mobile se déplace le long de l'un des itinéraires de transport, la position de la station mobile peut être localisée précisément par référence à la connaissance des routes sur lesquelles la station mobile pourrait être située à chacun des moments successifs d'une série auxquels la station mobile communique sa position général au système cellulaire.
