Abstract

The invention relates to a method for controlling timing of a transmission by a mobile station (MS) in a digital TDMA mobile telecommunication system and to a TDMA mobile telecommunication system, comprising a first (B1) and a second (B2) base station. In the method, a burst-like message is transmitted (TR) from the mobile station (MS). To make it possible to use additional receivers (B2) or quasi-synchronized base stations (B1, B2), receivers of the base stations (B1, B2) are synchronized to receive a message from the same mobile station in a simultaneous timeslot (110, 120), propagation times needed for the message (TR) to propagate from the mobile station (MS) to the first (B1) and the second (B2) base station receiving said message are determined, the moment of transmission of the next message from the mobile station is controlled on the basis of said propagation times in such a way that the message (TR) from the mobile station (MS) is received both by the first (B1) and, if possible, by the second (B2) base station entirely in the same timeslot (110, 120).
