DESIGN FOR AN OIL-CLOTH PATTERN.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the :samev ro all irhom it my concern Be it known that l, \\'1s.\fnn ll. rl.0w.\'sr:.\'n, of the city of New York, in the county and State oi' New York, have invented a new and original Design for Oil-Cloths; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing l'ornring part ot' this specification.

This invention relates to a new design 'orI oilcloths, the saine being entirely composed of' ornamental squares, of' which some are divided into triangles.

The same is mainly composed of tive squares, A, B, C, D, and E, all ot' equal size, thc four last-named squares surroumling the `square A, as shown.

The square A is, by means of two lines a a which bisect its sides, divided into four smaller squares b b, and each of the latter is, by a diagonal, c, divided into two triangles, of which the outer one, d, forms a corner of the main square A, while the four inner triangles, c c, together constitute a square within A, and halt' as large as the saine.

The outer triangles d are ornamentcd, each by a central rosette, j, and by arabesques g 1/ surrounding the Same.

Each of the trianglesy c is plainly ornamented by tretbil, h', as shown.

'lwo squares B D, which are on the opposite sidi of the square A, are subdivided by lines a and c, i the saine manner in which the square A is snbd vided. The several triangles in thcln, however, al only ornamcntcd by trefoils, as shown.

Each ot' the remaining squares C E is ornamenti by a central rosette, h, which is contained within central ligure, ri, which is a square with rounded-ou ward projecting corners.

The figure i, contains arabesques j in the corner and is also surrounded by two circles k k and ar; bosques Z, as shown.

The drawing represents two full squares A A, wil one half' square E and a half square D between then and with two quarters of squares C and two of' sqnarn B at the corners.

The colors of the several squares, triangles, an figures may be varied at will.

I claim as my invention- The design l'or an oil-cloth, as shown.
