MICHAEL E. TOEPEL, FRANK B. WIDMAYER, AND ADOLPH POTDEVIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESlGN FOR A CASING FOR HYDROCARBON 'MOTORS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,005, dated August 27, 1901.
Application filed March 18,1901. Serial No. 51,790; Term of patent years.
To ctZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, MICHAEL E. TOEPEL, FRANK B. WIDMAYER, and .ADOLPH POTDE- VIN, citizens of the United States, and residents of New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Casing for Hydrocarbon-Motors, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to the exterior appearance or design of a casing for hydrocarhon-motors.
Said design is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of the casing. Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof; Fig. 3, a rear elevation thereof, and Fig. 4. a plan View thereof.
The leading or essential features of our design, as seen in the accompanying drawings, are the drum-shaped lower portion 5, surmounted by the cylindrical ribbed portion 6, topped by the ribbed cap 7, on the side of which is a vertically-ribbed projection 8, having depending therefrom along the side of the cylindrical portion 6 a conical portion 9, also provided with vertical ribs. The drumshaped portion 5 has transverse ribs on its sides, as indicated at 10, and vertical ribs extending from one transverse rib to another, as indicated at 11. On the face of the drumshaped portion 5 there is a radially-locatedelevated portion 12 in line with the depending portion 9. About the center of the head side are peripheral projections 23, correspond ing to the ribs 10 of Figs. 1 and 4: upon which projections appear hexagonal figures. At the upper right-hand corner of the radiallyraised portion 12 in Figs. 1 and 2 is a projection bearing a finger-like extension 25. Above this the ribs of the cylindrical portion 6 appear broken away, forming a channel. A short cylindrical projection extends horizontally from the conical portion 9, as seen at 14 in Fig. 2. A longer cylindrical projection eX- tends from the ribbed portion 8, as indicated at 15, and which is further prolonged by a series of polygonal and cylindrical sections decreasing in size, as indicated at 16. Above the ribbed portion 8 is a plain cylindrical portion topped by a polygonal part 27. It will be noted that the ribs on the cylindrical portion 6 decrease in diameter near the lower end of the series and that the thickness of drum 5 is less than the diameter of the smallest rib. It will also be noted that the radi ally-projecting ribs on the cap 7 are interrupted at four points, wherein appear polygonal bodies 28.
We claim as our invention- The design of a casing for a hydrocarbonmotor as herein shown and described.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 16th day of March, A. D. 1901.
