GEORGE T. MCINTOSII, Oh CLEVELAND, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A NAME-PLATE FOR VELOCIPEDES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,385, dated December 8, 1896.
Application filed October 3, 1896. Serial No. 607,804. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern/.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE 'l. Mcln'rosn, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Oleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Name- Plates for Velocipedes and other Light Vehicles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
The invention is intended to be used mainl y as a name-plate for velocipedes of various kinds and other light vehicles.
Figure 1 is a front View of the nameplate constituting my design. Fig. 2 is a top view thereof, both of these Views showing the form in which the plate will be used. Fig. 3 is a development of the plate, that is to say, a view showing the same in a flattened condition.
The leading features of the design are an S-shaped part and a centrally-placed vertical arrow, the head of which projects above the 8, while the conventional feathers projeet below it. The plate is intended to b secured to the cylindrical steering-head of a velocipede, and it is consequently curved about a vertical axis, the convex side being outermost. This gives to the S, when Viewed from in front, the appearance of a condenscd letter.
A represents the Sshaped part, which in the form shown has points a projecting from both sides of its middle part toward the rounded ends to. Other points a (1, project, respectively, from the right edge of the upper part of the letter and from the left edge of the lower part of the letter. At the top and bottom of the letter are approximately semicylindrical projections a" o which extend, respectively, up and down from the letter. These specifically named characteristics are not, however, essential characteristics of the design, the points and projections being so small that at some little distance they are practically not noticeable.
13 represents the arrow, Z2 being the head, and Z) the shaft, and b the feathers.
\Vhat I-elaim is- The design for a name-plate for velocipedes and other light vehicles, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE T. MGINTOSII.
Witnesses E. L. THURSTON, E. B. GILOHRIST.
