Be it known that I, JOSEPH lVEnnR, a. citizen of the United tates, residing at Liberty, in the county of Sullivan and Male of New b clare the following exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which and use the same.

\Vhen the key is kept down constantly the amount of insulating and conductingsurface on disk B is so arranged that the knife or punch J will punch out of the substance a hole of just the width of the punch making a continuous hole and that when the key is played intermittently or with the least tremolo there will always be a wall in the substance between each cut of the knife. After a length of paper or other substance has been punched, or perforated, according to the keys manipulated by the performer, it may be necessary to cause a duplicate copy Instead of the performer playingit over again, a series of contacts and a conducting roller suitably arranged in conneclion with the magnets niay be employed so that the first or other copy wheh drawn between the conducting roll and, contacts will operate the circuit instead of at a point to the machine itself, such as a piano key.
While I have been careful to show a perfect machine in all its details it is obvious that minor changes may be made and the principles maintained though .niechanical equivalents may be substituted.
\Vhat I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A punching or perforating machine, comprising a punch, means for feeding a strip of paper for engagement with said punch, a shaft, means for actuating said shaft, said shaft carrying a clitted disk with.
an upturned portion or tongue, means for engaged by said through said disk said paper-feeding means.
2. A device of the character described, including a punch, punch, means for feeding a strip or sheet of paper to said punch, means for intermittently actuating said shaft, a rocker shaft, means interposed between said shaft and the first referred to shaft, means carried by the first referred to shaft adapted to actuate the last referred to means, said punch having its carryii'ig rod. provided with a stud, said rockershaft being provided with an arm engaging said stud.
3. A device of the character described, in-
