To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LAURA CANON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of .vlissouri, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Cloth-Rolling Tubes; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to a cloth rolling tube, and has for its object to provide a tube upon which table linens, ribbons, veilings, or the like, may be rolled to prevent their be coming creased while stored, and in which moth proof, sachet, or other powder may be carried without coming in direct contact with the cloth that is wrapped thereon. In accomplishing this object I have provided the improved details of structure hereinafter described and pointed out in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure I is a perspective view of a tube constructed according to my invention, as it appears with a strip of cloth wound thereon. Fig. II is a similar view of the tube without the cloth. Fig. III is a cross sectional View on the line IIIIII, Fig. II.

Referring more in detail to the parts l designates the tube body, which is preferably composed of paper or other light material, and is provided with the perfora tions 2. The tube body is preferably closed at the ends and provided with an intermediate opening 3 through which a suitable powder, or the like may be supplied to the tube chamber.

a designates a cover for the opening 3, which is hinged at one side to the tube body and provided, at its opposite side, with a spring latch 5, which is adapted to project into a socket 6 in said body, to hold the cover in place, the head of the latch being as nearly flat on the cover as possible to provide a smooth surface upon which cloth may be rolled.

7 designates a strip of cloth which extends throughout the length of the tube and has one of its longitudinal edges attached thereto, the body of the cloth being free to wrap around the tube and cover the perforations so that the powder in the tube may not escape and come into contact with the cloth roll. In order that the shield cloth may be easily replaced should it become soiled, I prefer to provide the tube with a clamp 8 which extends longitudinally on the tube and has the end rings 9 for fastening the ends of the clamp to the tube. \Vhen the clamp is used, the shield cloth may be provided with a hem 10 through which the clamp may be extended before it is fastened by the rings 9.

In using the tube, a shield cloth is attached to the-clamp, powder placed in the tube chamber through the opening and the cover secured in its closed position. The shield cloth is then wrapped around the tube and the cloth, for which the tube has been prepared, is rolled thereon and fastened by suitable bands. The cloth may then be stored without becoming creased, and be preserved or perfumed by the powder although the latter does not come in direct contact therewith.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A tube having closed ends having a side opening and, having a plurality of small apertures throughout its length, a cover for the side opening, and a shield cloth attached at one end to the tube and adapted for covering the small apertures, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

2. A tube having a suitable opening and cover, a clamp arranged longitudinally on said tube, and a shield cloth having a free edge, and an edge fixed to said clamp, for the purpose set forth.

3. A perforated tube having closed ends and a side opening, a cover adapted to close said opening, a clamp bar arranged longitudinally on said tube and having one of its ends fixed to the tube, a ring adapted to move over the free end of said bar, and a shield cloth having one side edge attached to the clamp bar and the opposite edge free to enable the cloth to wrap on the tube.
