Beit known that we, WARR N M. SMITH and SAMUEL M. CURWEN, citizens of the United States, residin in Moore, Pennsyl- Vania, and Haverfo'r Pennsylvania, respectively, have invented certain Improvements in Passenger-Cars, of which the following is a specification.
p Our invention relates to certain improvements in passenger cars of the type in which passengers pay. their fares on entering' the car.
The object of our invention is to provide for the inclosing of the platform by a sliding and pivoted door on one side and a sliding door on the opposite side; the doorways leading from the platform to the body of open.
In the accompanying drawingsr-Figure 1, is a sectional plan view of one car illustrating our invention and showing thedoors closed; Fig. 2, is a similar view of part of the platform showing the doors open; Fig. 3, is a sectional plan view of one side ofthe car showing the slidin' door partly open; Fig. 4, is a sectiona view showing the lower uide rail of .the sliding door illustrated in ig. 3; Fig. 5, is a sectional elevation on the'line 5'5, Fig. 2; and

The conductor is located in the egress section of the platform directly back of the rail D, so that he can control the admission of passengers to the body of the car and yet operate the doors when necessary.
We claim 1. The combination in a passenger car, of a body portion, a platform, ingress and egresspassageways at one side of the platform, the egress passageway being nearest the body of the car, a post at the edge of the platform separating the two passageways, a door hinged tothe post and ar ranged to close the egress passageway, a sliding door, and' guides for the door, said door being arranged to slide against the end of the vestibule framing.
2. The combination-in a passenger car, of a body portion, a platform, vestibule framing at one'end of the platform, a post at one side of the platform separating the ingress and egresspassageways leading to the platform, a sliding door closing the ingress passageway, a pivoted door closing the egress passageway, aguard at the centerof the platform and forming with the door closing the egress passageway when open a partition separating the egress section of the platform from the ingress Section.
3. The combination in a passenger car, of a body portion, a platform, vestibule framing at the end-of the platform, a transversepartition separating the body of the car from the platform, ingress and egress passageways in said partition,,a fixed section separating the said passageways, a .rail extending from one side of the fixed section over the platform, a-post at one side of the platform, a pivoted door hung to the post.
