To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, VALENTINE C. LUP- rERT, citizen of the United States, residing at South Williamsport, in the county of Lycoming and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Table-Supports, and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of thisspecification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

The present invention has relation to that class of devices especially designed for supporting one table or like article of furniture above another for storing or exhibiting purposes, and has special reference to thetable support for which a patent was granted to me December 18 1906, wherein is provided means by which the upper one of the table or like article of furniture is capable of being tilted upon its support to more satisfactorily exhibit the same.

The object of the invention is to improve tables and thereby enabling a third piece of furniture to be exhibited and the saving of floor space.

The invention consists in a table support constructed substantially as shown in the drawings and hereinafter described.

11 the accompanying drawings, A represents a suitable bracket having arms B extending at right angles thereto, the brackets being single or double as preferred so that a horizontal line of tables may be supported.

The bracket A is suitably pivoted to the upper end of standards C D which are adapted to fold together when not required for use, but when extended are held in such position by suitable braces a b which comprise a pivoted locking means clearly and fully described in my former patent, said standards at their lower ends having wide feet or supports 0. The brackets A have pivoted thereto a metal brace E, the lower end of said brace having an elon ated slot d, the opening e joining the slot at right angle thereto to en-' able the brace at its lower end to be disengaged from the means connecting it with the standard.

The means and construction above described are clearly shown and described in my former patent and in the present case are simply illustrated to show the application of my improvement thereto. The means shown for movably holding the brace in my former patent to the standard consisted in a simple guide-pin projecting from the standard and engaging the slot in the pivoted brace to provide a guidetherefor.

In the above construction there were no provision made for holding the bracket with table in its tilted position without the use of the hands, and in providing some means by which the bracket unaided by the hands may be retained in its tilted position. I preferably employ a screw bolt F, spring or springs G, and thumb nut or nuts f.

Fig. 2 of the drawings shows a table-support wherein double brackets A are used in place of a single bracket to adapt the support to more than one table or where a line of tables are to be supported, such construction being clearly shown and described in my former patent. Where the double brackets are used as above described, each bracket has its own brace E and to. adapt the bolt where double braces are used, both ends of the bolt are screw threaded to receive thumbnuts and double springs are used, the bolt passing through both the braces, as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings.

Springs G encircle the bolt F and are located between the thumb nuts f and washers g; washers it being located between the braces F and the standard D. When the table is tilted to the desired angle by ressing down on one edge thereof which wil in turn tilt the bracket A, which movement is allowed through the medium of the slotted braces E, the braces are held securely in position which they will assume by the tilting of the table by turning the thumb-nuts in the proper direction to compress the coils of the springs G, thereby rigidly and securely holding the brackets in their tilted position. The bolt, thumbnut and the spring is one of many means that may be employed for obtaining the result desired, either where a single bracket is used or a double bracket, and

such changes or modifications in the means employed for holding the bracket in its adjusted position as would come within ordinary judgment, may be resorted to without departing from the essential features of the invention.

The means employed for supporting a rocking chair above the upper one of the tables, consists in two supporting props H I suitably secured to one of the standards and projecting the desired distance above the same. The props H I have bearing notches *L at their upper ends with which engage horizontal bars or rods J as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, said props being connected together by a removable brace K which is headed at one end and hooked at the opposite end to engage the elongated opening j in the prop I. The rocking chair is retained above the upper one of the tables by resting on the two bars or rods J and can be conveniently removed when desired.

Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is I A table support comprising two standards, supporting rackets pivoted thereto, and supporting props connected to the standards and projecting above the same, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
