This invention is an improvement in postal cards designed more especially as a souvenir and advertising card.

The object of the invention is to provide a device of this character affording considerable space for writing, print, or pictures and for obscuring the same from view while in transit.

One embodiment of the invention consists of a pocket open at both ends and adapted to contain a card, the latter being connected to the pocket by a strip of material of such length that the card may be withdrawn from the pocket when desired. A tongue is cut out at one side of the pocket, forming a flap and admitting ofthe matter contained on the card being viewed from the exterior of the pocket and also coacting with a device carried by the card to hold the latter in the pocket and the flap in closed relation.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure l is a perspective view of my preferred form of construction, showing the tongue forming the flap in open position and the card partially drawn from the pocket. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal central section of the device with the card inclosed and held in the pocket. Fig. 3 is a like section, but with the parts disposed in a different relation; and

Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view on the line 4 4 of Fig. 2 looking in the direction of the arrow.

Referring to the drawing figures, the numeral 1 indicates a pocket constructed of any suitable material by folding the material upon itself, as illustrated in Fig. l, leaving each end of the pocket open. without the necessity of removing them. Slidably fitting into the pocket is a card 8, adapted to contain writing, printed matter, or pictures and is connected with the pocket by a strip of material 4, pasted or otherwise secured to one of the walls of the pocket near one end and at its opposite end to the extremity of the card 3. A slit 5 is cut into the flap 2 at its free end, which coacts with a device 6, secured to the card 3, said device preferably consisting of a piece of thin metal forming an extending tab and bent into such shape as to readily engage with the slit 5 when the card 8 is inclosed by the pocket. The card and flap are in practice connected together by passing the tab under the flap and through the slit 5, after which the tab is bent over, as illustrated in Fig. 2. The card is then ready for mailing and will be securely held in the pocket until purposely removed therefrom.

The strip of material 4, while being of sufficient length to permit the card to be withdrawn entirely from the pocket in order that the contents may be easily viewed, at the same time keeps the elements of my improvement from being disassembled.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A device of the character described comprising a pocket having a tongue out out at one side thereof forming a flap, a card slidably fitting the pocket, means connecting the card and pocket together, and means for attaching the card and flap as described.

2. A device of the character described comprising a pocket having a tongue cut out at one side thereof, forming a flap, a card slidably fitting the pocket, and means for attaching the card and flap together whereby the flap is held in closed relation and the card is held in the pocket.
