Be it known that I, JOHN JNEWAY, of the city of Indianapolis, county ot' Marion, and 4State of Indiens,
have invented a. new and nsefullImprovement in Bedstead-Fasteners; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation ofthe seme, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and letters of reference marked thereon, which formes. part of this specification.
The ngture o'fmy inventionl consists in providing a. plate, made of iron or other suitable material, so constructed and put into `the post of a. bedstead without the use of screws, and et the same time being stronger 'than the ordinary plate held in its position by means of screws, 85o. v I
To enable others to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
First. Figure 4 of said drawings represents a post, with a. dove-tiled groove cut by means of a. bit or other instrument, as shown by lettersR and E E E. 4
Second. Figures 1 and 5. Letter B represents the plate complete, both rightv and left. Letters A A A A represent the bevelled odge ot' the plate to it4 the dovejtailed groove R, as shown at E E E in fig. 4.
Third. Figure 2. Letter P represents a post withthe right-hand plate, B, fastened inits proper position by means of the dove-tailed piece K, with its bevelled edge D, as shown in lig. 3, letters C and D D, either with glue, nails, or screws. l
