TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, Gnus MILNER, of Des Moines, in the-county of Polk, and in the'State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washing-ll.'[aehincs; andl do hereby declare that the followingA is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, andthe letters oi' reference marked thereon.

In the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, Arepreseuts a rectangular box, ofI any desired dimensions, provided with suitable legs, and with a partition, B, across it, near the middle, and also provided with or having attached to and above one end a table or shelf, C, designed as a'convenient place f'cr soap and other articles or materials used for washing purposes.

D represents a corrugated roller, constructed of a series of corrugated staves, which are' screwed to the main cylinder, so as to be adjustable, and when Worn out, other stavcs may replace those worn out.`

The cylinder'D fits inaud is adjusted in the box A, and has a pinion, g,)attached to one end of its shaft, outside of the-box A,land a ly-wheel, F, at the other end.

Each of the staves of the cylinder D is provided with or has attached to it a series of brushes, w composed of bristles, or other suitable material, and when said stavcs are screwed to the main cylinder, there is a series of parallel rows of brushes :t :z: on said cylinder D. y

E represents a `concave corrugated board, and corresponds with the convexity of the corrugated cylinder D, pivoted between the sides ofthe box A, at a suitable distance from the cylinder D, and isprovided with parallel rows of brushes a: somewhat larger but corresponding with those on the cylinder D.

Beneath the under face of the board E, and'through the bottom of the box A, is placed a set-screw, c, for the purpose of adjusting said board, andregulating the space between th'e said board `and the cylinder D, so as to correspond wither to the thickness or bulk of thc material to be washed. Y

The series of brushes :I: :v on the cylinder D and boardE is designed as convenient and eccll-ent rubbers or scourers, for thoroughly cleansing and washing clothes.

Having thus fullydescribed myinventiou, what I claim as new, and desircto secure by Letters Patent, is- The box A, cylinder D, and adjustable board E, when said cylinder is provided with a series of corrugated staves and brushes, as described, and the board E with corresponding brushes, to operate substantially as set forth. y Y
