UNITE STATES Patented January 24, 1905.
PATENT OFFIC DAVID HAIGH, OF MUNOIE, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HAIIF TO JOHN LENOX, OF HARTFORD CITY, INDIANA.
COMBINED CURTAIN-POLE AND'SHADE HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent NO- 780,794, dated anuary 24, 1905. Application filed June 15, 1903. 7 Serial No. 161,592.
To all whom/ it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID HAIGH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Munmentioned are accomplished by the construc-' tion illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several views, and in which.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the upper portion ofa window-casing, showing my holders secured in place. Fig. 2 is atop plan View of one corner of the upper portion of the casing, showing one of my holders secured in place. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 4: is a rear view of the plate and bracket detached from the casing. v
Inthe drawings, A designates the upper 'portion of the window, and B the inner and outer corner-blocks.
C and D designate the securing-plates, respectively. The ends of these plates are bent inwardly, as shown at C and D, and are provided with the sharp points C and D for engaging the sides of the casing. The two plates C and D are slidably secured together by means of the clamps E on the plate D. The clamp E prevents the inner plate 0 from bearing against the front face of the casing. The plate C is provided with a screw-threaded shank F on its end opposite from the points.
This screw-threaded shank extends through an aperture in the portion D of the'plate D.
F designates a thumb-nut on the shank. I In securing the plates to the corner of the casing the nut is screwed up on the shank and bears against the portion D on the plate D. This operation will draw the two plates together i and force the points on the plates into the sides of the casing.
H designates the bracket, which supports the curtain-pole and shade. The bracket is provided with a hook portion H, which fits over the plate 0, asjshown in Fig. 3. The bracket is provided with a shade-holder I and a curtain-pole holder K. The lower inner portion of the bracket is provided with a portion L, which bears against the side of the casing. By having the inner plate spaced apart away from the front of the casing there will always be room for the hook portion H on the bracket to be placed upon the plate C.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
Thejcombination with a shade and curtainpole holder, ofan inner and outer plate horizontally disposed and slidingly secured together, the outer ends of the plates being provided with inwardly turned portions and points projecting from the inwardly-turned portions adapted to engage the sides of the casing, the inner plate being spaced from the front of the casing, a screw-threaded shank on the inner plate extending through the inwardly-extending portion D of the outer plate, a nut on the shank adapted to be screwed against the portion D, and a combined curtain-pole and shade holding bracket having an integral hook portion H for detachably securing the bracket to the inner plate.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
