SWING.
SPECIFICATION forming p r f Letters Patent No. 765,957, dated July 26, 1904.
Application filed March 10, 1903. Renewed January 28, 1904. Serial No 191,059. (No model.)
To a, whom, 710' n't/l/y concern.-
Be it known that I, CARL T. CAMPB ELL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Sistersville, in the county of Tyler and State of \Vest Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Swings, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in swings, and relates more particularly to that class of swings which are supported either by an independent .frame or other suitable means.
The object of this invention is to provide a swing the frame of which is adjustable to any height or angle, and this invention is an improvement on a device for which Letters Patent No. 719,301 were granted me on January 27, 1903.
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, and wherein like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout the view, in which the figure illustrates a perspective view looking toward the front of my improved swing.
In the drawing, 1 represents a main supporting-bar, which is secured to a frame or other suitable support by the rigid brackets 2 2, although the same may be pivotally connected, as shown in my previous patent. Extending downward and suitably connected with this support 1 are the rods 3 3, which have perforations provided at intervals of its length, and brackets 4 4, secured to the upper end of the swing-frame, pass over these rods 3 3,and a pin 5 5, projecting through said brackets, engaging one of the perforations in the support 3 3, forms a means for vertically adjusting the swing-frame. Connected to these brackets a I are the parts 6 6 and 7 7, and connected with the parts 6 6 by a hinge connection 8 8 are the supports 9 9 for one end of the swing bed-frame, which is connected thereto by the adjustable brackets 10 10. The
lower ends of these supports 9 are provided with screw-collars 11 11,the collar 11 of which is provided with the thumb-piece for removing the same to allow of the removal of the swing,- frame from support 9.
Connected to the arms 7 7 by the hinges 12 12 are the supports 14 and 14, adapted to secure the forward end of the swing bed-frame, said supports 14 14 also being provided at their lower ends with the collars 15 15, the latter of which is removable to permit of the removal of the frame from the support 14. The swing bed-frame consists of side bars 16 16, which are secured to the end bars through suitable connections, and near one end of said frame the side bars are raised to form an upwardly-projecting part in the canvas covering (shown in dotted lines) to form a headrest. Arm-pieces 18 18 are secured to the frame forward of said head-piece by means of the adjustable coupling 19 19 and clamp 20 20. A foot-rest 21 is secured 'to said side bars by means of the brackets 2222 and 23 23, the brackets 22 of which are rotatably adjustable on a nipple secured to the longitudinally-adjustable brackets 23 23. By this means any vertical or longitudinal adjustment of said foot-rest 21 may be secured.
It will be noted that various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of my invention.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A swing-frame comprising a main support, adjustable supporting members secured thereto, supporting members pivotally connected with said adjustable members, a bedframe, adj ustably connected to the last-named supporting members, said frame having a head-rest thereon, an adjustable foot-rest secured thereto, and adjustable arm-rests mounted on said frame, substantially as described.
2. In a swing-frame, the combination of a stationary supporting means, a main support cured to said brackets, substantially as deconnected thereto, supporting-arms adjustscribed. 10 ably connected therewith, a bed-frame for the In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in swing adjustably secured to the supportingthe presence of two Witnesses.
