PACKAGE-CARRIER.
SPECIFICATION forming but of- Letters Patent No. 763,104, dated June 21, 1904.
Application filed August 18, 1903.
To all who) 7'75 um, concern.-
Be it known that I, OSWALD LEUSCHNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, (Brooklym) county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Package-Carriers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a package-carrier which is of simple construction and may be, securely attached to the package.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of my improved package-carrier, and Fig. 2 an end view thereof.
The letter a represents the cylindrical han-' dle of the carrier. To each end of handle a there is secured by a nail b a spring-wire hook D, placed at right angles to the handle and adapted to engage the strap or string of the package. Each hook D is made from a continuous length of wire and is bent to form an open circular eye d and a pair of diverging shanks 0? cl in the same plane with the eye. The shank d is at its lower end first bent upwardly, as at 0Z and then downwardly, as at d". In this way there is formed on the end of shank d an inverted-U-shaped keeper, which is closed at the top and open at the bottom. This keeper is adapted for the reception of the shank d, that constitutes the resilient tongue of the hook, and is sprung into engagement with the keeper through the lower open side Serial No- 169,94=4=. (N0 model.
carrier is of simple construction, may be readily manipulated, and as the hooks extend parallel to each other and at right angles to the handle the length of the carrier is reduced to a minimum.
What I claim is In a package-carrier, a handle and a pair of parallel hooks extending at right angles therefrom, and each composed of a wirebent to form an eye, a pair of diverging shanks in the same plane as the eye and an inverted- U-shaped keeper at the end of one of the shanks, combined with nails for securing the hooks to the handle.
Signed at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, this 31st day of July, A. D. 1903.
