Application filed IEebmary'S, 1903. Serial l lo. 141,717. (No model.)
Ton ll whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARY MOC'ALL'LIV- INGSTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Thomasville, in the county of'llhomasf and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment Supporting Apparatus; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact. description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and tothe letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. i
This invention relates to new and useful" improvements in garment-supporters, and especially to a simple and eificient means for holding up diapers; and it consists in the provision of a button-tab attached to one end of a suspender and adapted for attachment to ts further in the novel construction, combination, and adaptation of.
parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this invention, and in which similar letters of reference indicate like parts, in Which Figure 1 is a perspective rear View of my garment-supporting apparatus shown as applied to a diaper. Fig. 2 is a detail view showing the manner of attaching a portion 'of the suspender to a portion of a diaper. Fig. 3 is a detail view showing themanner of supporting the portion of thei liaper at thefront of thebody'of a child. Fig. 4 is a central sectional view through Fig. 3.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a tab,
which is adapted to be secured to an end B of the suspender E, and D designates a button, which is fastened to the end B, said button vDbeing adapted to engage the buttonhole F, which is formed in the tab A, as shown in Fig. 3, and form a supporting means'for a.
safety-pin 11, while the point ,of the pin is adapted to be caught into the diaper K, as
shown. The tab described and the pin carried thereby are intended to support the portion ofthe diaper which is held at'the front of the child, and the portion which is supported at the back of the infant comprises the elastic strap N, which is permanentlyfastoned to the safety-pin M, which latter isdesigned to be caught in the diaper, as shown inFig. 2, and the other end of said strap is provided with a buttonhole N, which is adapted to be buttoned to a button'O, which is fastened to an end Q of the suspender.
Another end B of the suspender is providedwith a buttonhole R, which after the elastic strap N has been fastened over the button 0 is designed tobe buttoned over the same but ton O,thus retaining the strap N upon the but ton O and between the two ends Q and B.
By the provision of a garment-supporting apparatus, as hereinbefore described, infants diapers may be satisfactorily held up without being continually torn, as is the case with the commonway of supporting diapers, where the pins are used for engagement with'both the diaper and the suspender direct. provision of my;-improved supporting apparatus the diaper may be easily attached and detached, the elastic strap will allow of various movements of the body, giving under a strain, and as the safety-pin is not permanently secured to the suspender the latter support a safety-pin, an elastie strap, a but- By. the
