IMPROVEMENT IN GATES.
TO ALL WHOM 1".1. MAY oononnm Be it known that I, CALVIN SHEPARD, of Binghamton, in the county of Broome, in the State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Fastening, Farm-Gates and Sliding Doors; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference'heing had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon. v i
The nature of my invention consists in a. lever-catch and ready-fastenerof farm-gates and sliding doors.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation. V
Thegate or door-post may he'constructed' in the'nsual form. Figure No. 2 represents the post at the left hand, which is connected togetherby a pin and a cap on the top of the post. The gate when shut rests on the V pin, letter H. Letter B is a-self-operating lever-catch, which catches on the under side of the pin, letter H. f The lever-catch is hung on a. pin that serves for the gate-handle; At the small end of the lever-catch there is a ready-fastener marked letter C.
