IMPROVE-MENT IN SPRINGS FOR VEHICLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 64,434, dated May 7, 1867.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID DICK MATTESON, of Harmonsburg, in the county of Gra ford, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Spring for Carriages and Buggies 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure 2 represents my spring detached from the buggy. It is made ot' one piece of steel, bent in the form shown in the drawing. The ends l 2 are'turn ed into eyes, to be thereby attached to the box of the carriage by a stirrup and bolt. The spring is fastened to the axle or spring-bar by a strap, D, Fig. 1. The spring is'bent in the. shape of a letter U at each end, and then the ends of the same bent at right angles to each other at 4, Where the strap is placed.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
Asprin g for carriages or bnggies, constructed`of one piece of steel, bent or formed inthe manner described, constructed in the aforesaid combination and for the purposes set forth. DAVID DICK MATTESON. Witnesses:
