SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 541,995, dated July 2, 1895.
Application filed March 29, 1895.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WHITLEY DENTON, of Centreville, in the county of St. Joseph, in the State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sleeping-Garments, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to the class of garments which are designed to be worn by persons while lying in bed.
The object of the invention is to provide said garments with means for protecting the feet and hands of the wearer from being chilled in case they become uncovered from the bedclothes; and the invention consists in certain novel features of the details of con.

The annexed drawing represents a front view of a garment of the form of a gown, a
part of the lower portion thereof being broken and rear flaps c and (1, respectively. Each Serial No. 543,613- (No model.)
. flap is provided with a pocket P for one of the feet, one-half of which pocket is formed of a blank a, preferably of knitted fabric, which is sewed to the inside of the gown. Said pockets, being located near the vertical slits S S, allows the wearer of the gown tofreely walk about with the feet inserted in the pockets.
The sleeves of the garment I prefer to form with extensions h h, which can be either drawn over the hand of the wearer to cover and protect the same from cold air or folded back to form cuffs.
To retain the sleeve extensions in either of their aforesaid adjusted positions,I provide the ends of the extensions with shirr-strings i t', which pass loosely through saidends, so as to allow them to be gathered and tied.
What I claim as my invention is- A sleeping garment consisting of a gown extending from the neck to the feet of the wearer and having its lower portion provided with vertical slits forming a front and a rear flap, and a pocket for one of the feet secured on the inside of each flap near said slits as set forth and shown.
