To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that'I, EDWARD OowLEY'HoR- NOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Somerville, in the county of Fayette and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and usefulImprovements in Ladies Monthly Napkins; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to.

napkin being cut out of a single piece with but very little waste.

My invention is described as follows:

a, is the waistband which may be secured by buckles, buttons or otherwise at the sides, front or rear, not immediately in the front however, because in the front there is a strap b; and not immediately in the rear however, because in the rear there is a strap, corresponding to the strap b, in front. On both straps front and rear I prefer to use my suspensory device D.

The napkin proper consists in a newlycut and constructed apron F, as shown in the accompanying drawings, (Fig. 2) in which f, is the sack in which 1 and 2 represent the front and back pieces. This sack is sewed together at the dotted lines 3 at each end leaving loop ends 4, which are sewed together,

leaving sufiicient loop for the safety pin 7, to pass through. The other part of the napkin proper is cut to save material. It is cut out of a single piece of rectangular cloth or other suitable material having the sack l, 2, upper wings A, lower wings B, and center part 0.

The napkin is divided into several creases or folds indicated by the dotted lines shown in Fig. 2. The upper wings A, are folded at the lines 3, down on the lower wings B; the wings A, B, are then folded at the lines 4, and turned in on the center piece 6; then beginning at the line 5, the whole is folded up on the lines 5, 6, and 7, and put into the sack f. The flap ends 4, are then looped and sewed as above described.

In use the front and rear straps are passed through the loop d, and buttoned on the buttons b Then the napkin is secured to the lower end of the strap D, by suitable safety pins or otherwise.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to'secure byLetters Patent, is'

In a catamenial device, the napkin F, consisting of the parts 1, 2, 4, A, B, and 0, all in one integral piece; said parts 1 and 2 sewed together at 3, forming a sack f; parts 4, turned over and stitched .to form loops at 5; parts A,

adapted to be turned down on parts B, then parts A and B, adapted to be turned over on the part 0 then the parts A, B, and 0, adapted to be thrust into the sack f, in combination with a suitable device for suspending the same substantially as shown and described and for the purposes set forth.
