IMPROVED BOOKING-CHAIR.
Specification fo. m'ug part of Letters Patent No. 44,396, dated September 27, 1864.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it` known that 1, ROBERT UHAUNGEY, of the city of Syracuse, New York, have invented a new and Improved Rocking-Chair, capable of being kept in motion by the occupant of the chair; and I hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters lof reference marked thereon, and forming a part of this specication.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use Iny invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
A chair is made with the grooved rocker A, to operate upon the track B, fastened upon the platform C. I construct a flexible arm,
D, and attach it to the chair by a hinge, which arm may be used upon either or both sides of the chair, and it is also made to operate on the top of the wheel E. I fasten to the platform at the side of the chair an upright standard, F, upon the top of which is the wheel E, and the standard is so placed that the wheel E will come directly under the arm D at a point from one-fourth to one-thrd of the length ofthe arm from the forward end of it. i
