Barry Shay [57] ABSTRACT A bubble-making toy gun for producing a single bubble for each individual trigger actuation and including a single trigger mechanism provided with a compression device, that depresses and deflates a normally expanded rubber air storage bulb, thus forcing air forwardly through an air tube toward an ejection bubblemaking ring at the forward end of the gun, while a pump, also operated by the single trigger mechanism, pumps a quantity of soapy solution, carried within a reservoir in the handle of the gun, forwardly to the bubble-making ring where it forms and ejects a single bubble from the forward end of the gun.
1 Claim, 2 Drawing Figures BUBBLE GUN WITH SIMULTANEOUSLY OPERATED AIR BULB AND SOLUTION PUMP This invention relates to toy guns and particularly to an improved and simplified toy gun which discharges bubbles on a single trigger action.
An important object of my invention is to provide a very simple operating bubble gun at the lowest cost a bubble gun has ever been produced.
Another object of my invention is to provide the bubbleforming characteristics to the smallest toy gun as it would be to the largest rifle. The simplicity and size of the mechanism makes it easy to conceal without disrupting its appearance.
Also among the features is a single trigger mechanism with a compression device that deflates an air storage bulb and at the same time pumps soapy solution to the muzzle end of the gun.
A further object is to provide a soapy liquid dispenser, where the reservoir is a sealed container with a leak-proof opening for soapy solution reloading.
A feature of my gun consists in the release of a single bubble per shot, more in particular the long distance attained by the fired bubble, after a sharp trigger release.
Other advantages will become more apparent and my invention will be more readily understood from the following description, considered in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
FIG. 1 is a sectional view of a complete embodiment of my invention.
FIG. 2 is a sectional view taken from the top of the gun.
In the drawing the number 9 is used to designate the bubble gun casing which is made of plastic, metal or any other suitable material, formed with two shells simulating a gun, including a hand grip 12, a barrel l1 and a trigger 10. All these items are external to the gun and can take any shape or form desired.
In the internal portion of the gun 9, we have a sealed soapy solution compartment 1 which houses the hub ble-forming liquid that is poured through the fillup opening 5. Inside the soapy solution compartment 1, we find a pump 2 that is directly connected to the trigger 10 and to the bubble-making ring 4 through the soapy solution hose 3. The penetration of the hose 3 through the soapy solution compartment is completely watertight.
Located inside the barrel an air tube 13 is connected in its front to an air nozzle cone 8 and in its rear to an jecting into said handle to air rubber bulb 6 which is positioned in the air bulb housing 14. The air rubber bulb 6 is confined by the edge of the soapy solution compartment 1, by the gun casing 9 and by the trigger extension 7 that acts as the air bulb compressor.
The operation of my bubble gun is very simple. By compression of the trigger 10 two actions are accomplished:
A. The pump 2 is put into operation which will absorb the soapy solution in the compartment 1 and send it through the soapy solution hose 3 and into the bubblemaking ring 4. At this point the soapy solution will come out through the bubblemaking ring orifice 15, leaving a saopy film around the ring.
B. The trigger extension 7 will depress or partly collapse the air rubber bulb 6, forcing the air to go through the air tube] 3, through the air nozzle cone 8, which is aimed at the bubble-making ring 4. The air exhausted by the bulb blows the soapy film, ejecting a bubble.
The bubble is detached from the end of the gun barre] 11 and moves for an appreciable distance. As compression of the trigger is repeated, more solution will be supplied to the ring and air from the rubber bulb will expel] the soapy solution in the form of bubbles.
Although the various features of my bubble gun have been described in detail to fully disclose my invention, it is obvious many changes and departures may be made from the exact construction of the preferred embodiment without departing from the scope and intent of the invention.
What I claim is:
1. A toy bubble gun comprising an outer casing defining a gun barrel, and a gun handle; bubble-making means mounted in said casing including a bulb located forwardly of said handle for forcing air from said barrel upon compression of said bulb, a bubble making ring for receiving soapy solution to form a film of soapy solution, and a tube connected to said bulb, said tube being positioned relative to said ring so as direct air through said ring to blow the soapy film and eject a bubble, said bubble-making means further including a soapy solution reservoir, a hose for conducting solution from said pump to said ring for emergence at said ring; a trigger movably mounted on said gun, said trigger having means for compressing said bulb and for operating said pump upon movement of said trigger, said trigger means including direct extensions on said trigger, one said extension projecting into said casing to a location forwardly of said bulb, another said extension prooperate said pump.
