AN ANTI-SWIVEL FINGER RING CLIP HAVING A PLURALITY PROTUBERANCES SUPPORTED ON ONE SIDE OF AN ELONGATED STRIP, WHICH MAY HAVE ON THE OTHER SIDE A SOFT SOLDER OF A MELTING TEMPERATURE SUFFICIENTLY LOW TO BE MELTED BY A MATCH, USED FOR ATTACHMENT TO THE RING. THIS STRIP CAN BE CUT TO A PREDETERMINED DESIRED LENGTH FOR INSERTING WITHIN THE INSIDE CIRCUMFERENTIAL RIM OF A FINGER RING. ANOTHER ANTI-SWIVEL FINGER RING CLIP MAY BE FORMED IN THE SHAPE

OF A "CATAMARAN" HAVING TWO CROSSBARS PROTRUDING RADIALLY INWARDLY INTO CLOSE CONTACT WITH THE SOFT UNDERSIDE OF THE FINGER. WHEN A "CATAMARAN" TYPE CLIP IS USED, THE CLIP CAN BE SECURED ON THE RIM OF THE RING BY MEANS OF FORCIBLY PRESSING TOGETHER THE STRIP OF "CATAMARAN" CLIP ONTO THE RING''S RIM.

Cl. 63--15.6 3 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An anti-swivel finger ring clip having a plurality of protuberances supported on one side of an elongated strip, which may have on the other side a soft solder of a melting temperature sufficiently low to be melted by a match, used for attachment to the ring. This strip can be cut to a predetermined desired length for inserting within the inside circumferential rim of a finger ring. Another anti-swivel finger ring clip may be formed in the shape of a catamaran having two crossbars protruding radially inwardly into close contact with the soft underside of the finger. When a catamaran type clip is used, the clip can be secured on the rim of the ring by means of forcibly pressing together the strip or catamaran clip onto the rings rim.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1) Field of the invention The present invention relates generally to a means for deterring swiveling of a finger ring about the finger of the wearer and more particularly to an anti-swivel finger ring slip which may be readily installed on a finger ring.
(2) Description of the prior art Heretofore, there were no simple means of preventing swiveling of a finger ring about the finger of the wearer other than means for the actual reduction of the size of the ring. In the present day, the wearing of finger rings with large size stones, such as cocktail rings, presents the problem of the ring rotating about the wearers finger and thus being misaligned in relation thereto. 'In addition, any means of preventing the finger ring from rotating about the finger involved the use of a device whose installation necessitated the use of time, more parts, and more complex instruments for its installation.
A means of deterring swiveling of the finger ring about the finger necessitated the reduction of the inside diameter of the finger ring. In many instances the size of the finger ring was changed by physically cutting the ring or by some other means which mutilated the ring.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Therefore, an object of this invention is to provide an anti-swivel finger ring clip that can be quickly and rigidly secured on the rim of a finger ring but at the same time can be removed if desired.
Another object of this invention is to provide an antiswivel finger ring clip that can be applied to a finger ring without need of a jeweler or his instruments.
Still another object of this invention is to provide an anti-swivel finger ring clip that can be readily installed on a finger ring, and at the same time be comfortable to the wearers finger.
An additional object of this invention is to provide an anti-swivel finger ring clip that can be easily installed on a finger ring while preserving the structure of the ring and preventing damage thereto.

FIG. 8 is a sectional view taken along line 8-8 of FIG. 7, showing another means of installation.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring to FIGS. 1 to 4 of the drawing in detail, shown is a womans finger ring 10 having a large diamond 12 at one portion 14 of its outside diameter with an anti swivel finger ring clip device 16 at another portion 18 of the finger ring 10 at its inside diameter. The large diamond 12 makes the ring 10 top-heavy and therefore the anti-swivel finger ring clip 16 is needed.
The anti-swivel ring clip 16 is comprised primarily of a single-piece clip made by cutting a blank out of a continuous elongated sheet gold strip 20. The blank may be cut any desired length such as from point A to point B, shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, to form the anti-swivel finger ring clip 16. The clip 16 afterwards can be pressed into a form shown in FIG. 3 and then installed and aligned on the finger ring 10 for soldering, as shown in FIG. 4.
The clip 16 includes two or three protuberances 22 which may be stamped out of the elongated gold strip 20 or may be made of two or three solder balls spaced and supported on one side of the elongated strip 20. Integral to the other side of the strip 20 is located one type of attaching means, such as a strip of low temperature melting solder 24.
The clip 16 can be soldered together with the ring 10 by means of a low caloric heat, such as the heat from a match 26, to melt the soft solder and therefore closely attach the clip 16 to the inside diameter of the finger ring 10. When the solder is allowed to cool it will hold the clip 16 closely to the inside diameter of the ring 10 with the two or three protuberances 22 directed radially inwardly of the ring 10 and spaced for permitting the folds of the soft inside portion of a finger 28 of the wearer to be pressed between the protuberances as best shown in FIG. 4. The protuberances are spaced for preventing the swiveling of the top-heavy ring 10 while preventing the reduction of its size.
It should be noted that the clip 16 can be readily and simply removed from the ring 10 by heat from the match 26 while preserving the structure of the ring 10 and preventing the damage thereto. A new size-reducing ring clip can then be installed on the ring 10 in the same way described for changing again the size of the ring 10.
Referring to FIGS. to 8 of the drawing in detail shows again the top-heavy finger ring 10 having the single diamond 12 at one portion 14 of its outside diameter and a new type of anti-swivel finger ring clip device 30 for deterring the ring from swiveling about the wearers finger.
This finger ring reducing clip 30 primarily is comprised of a pair of elongated strips 32 and 34 with a pair of cross-bars or parallel protuberances 36 connecting the pair of strips 32 and 34 for forming the anti-swivel finger ring clip device in the shape of a catamaran. The catamaran type clip 30 being convex on the lower side, as viewed in FIG. 6, and having end portions 37, 38, 39 and 40, may be pressed against the ring 10 by means of the pliers 42, as shown in FIG. 8, so as to be very firmly attached to the ring 10.
The clip 30 can be also soldered to the ring 10, as shown in FIG. 7, by means of a low caloric heat, such as the match 26, as in the first embodiment of this invention, and the clip 16 of the first embodiment of this invention can be formed and pressed against the ring 10 for attaching thereon by means of the pliers 42, as shown in FIG. 8.
When the clip 30 is attached to the ring by one of the herein-mentioned methods, the cross-bars 36 will be protruding radially inwardly of the rings diameter and spaced at a distance so as to permit the soft folds of the inside portion of the finger 28 to be pressed between the cross-bars 36 as best shown in FIG. 7, to prevent swiveling of the ring and at the same time prevent the reduction of the size of the ring. The ring will not be reduced in size since the soft under-part of the finger will be flexible so as to give to the pressure of the cross-bars while at the same time fold into the spaces between the cross-bars and thus prevent the ring from swiveling out of alignment and thereby provide for a better appearing overall ring arrangement.
Again here it should be noted that the clip 30 can be readily and simply removed from the ring 10 by heat or by means of the pliers, while preserving the structure of the ring 10 and preventing damage thereto. A new anti-swivel catamaran type of clip can then be installed on the ring 10 in the same way described.
Therefore, it can be understood from the description that there is provided an improved simple one-piece or catamaran type of anti-swivel finger ring device that can be quickly and simply installed and removed without jewelers tools for presenting a top-heavy ring in an aligned position without any damage to the ring.
What is claimed is:
1. An anti-swivel finger ring device for attaching to a finger ring having a large diamond which results in a top-heavy finger ring arrangement comprising a continuous elongated ring clip, said clip cut into a singlepiece blank of a predetermined length and pressed into an arch-shaped clip having a concave side and a convex side, means for securing the ring on the finger comprising a plurality of protuberances spaced apart along the length of the clip at a predetermined distance supported within the concavity of said clip, and attaching means for supporting said clip on the rim of the finger ring with said protuberances extending radially inwardly of the rim of the ring permitting the soft under-part of a wearers finger to extend within the space between said protuberances whereby the diamond of the ring can be aligned, wherein said attaching means includes a strip of low-temperature melting solder secured to the convex side of said clip and low caloric heat means, such as a match for heating said ring for melting the solder thereby closely attaching the clip to the rim of the finger ring.
2. An anti-swivel finger ring device for attaching to a finger ring having a large diamond which results in a top-heavy finger ring arrangement comprising a continuous elongated ring clip, said clip cut into a singlepiece blank of a predetermined length and pressed into an arch-shaped clip having a concave side and a convex side, means for securing the ring on the finger comprising a plurality of protuberances spaced apart along the length of the clip at a predetermined distance supported within the concavity of said clip, and attaching means for supporting said clip on the rim of the finger ring with said protuberances extending radially inwardly of the rim of the ring permitting the soft under-part of a wearers finger to extend within the space between said protuberances whereby the diamond of the ring can be aligned, wherein said clip is cut and pressed in the shape of a catamaran and consists of said attaching means and said securing means, said attaching means consisting of a pair of arched elongated strips having free end portions, and said securing means consisting of a pair of cross-bars spaced along the concave portion of the rim and connecting said pair of elongated strips whereby said clip may straddle the rim of the ring opposite the location of the diamond for permitting said cross-bars to extend radially inwardly of the rings rim for engagement with the under-part of the wearers finger to prevent swiveling.
3. The structure of claim 2 wherein said end portions on said pair of elongated strips for straddling the rim of said finger ring can be pressed against said rim by means of pliers for firmly securing the clip onto said finger ring.
