(Cl. 343) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A blanket for an infant when placed in a stroller, comprising a panel having securing means around three edges thereof so that the panel may be folded over to form a bag, a slide fastener extending from the center of the fourth edge when the panel is folded to form the bag, the slide fastener extending a short distance so as to allow selectively the opening up thereof to form a pair of flaps.

This invention relates generally to blankets or quilts for infants.

A principal object of the present invention is to provide an improved stroller blanket which may be selectively used either as a singular panel to wrap around a child or which may be selectively formed into a bag so as to receive the child thereinto.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a stroller blanket of generally square configuration and having three edges thereof with securing means so that the panel may be folded over to form a bag.

Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a stroller blanket wherein the front side of the bag may be selectively opened or closed to provide greater comfort to the infant.

Still another object of the present invention is to provide a stnollerblanket having a pocket on the rear side of the bag for purpose of receiving a pillow under the childs head.

Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a stroller blanket design which would be readly adaptable in the construction of a quilt for an infant.

These and other objects will become apparent from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein a satisfactory embodiment of the invention is not limited to the details disclosed, but includes all such variations and modifications as fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.

A still further object of this invention is to provide a stroller blanket which is inexpensive to manufacture, simple in design, rugged in constrluction, easy to use and efiicient in operation.

Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral represents a stroller blanket, according to the present invention wherein there is a generally square panel of blanket material 11 provided with

15. A slide fastener member 16 is secured along the entire length of edge 13 and across one-half of the lower edge 15. Another slide fastener member 17 is secured along the entire edge 14 of the blanket and across the remaining one-half of the lower edge 15. Thus selectively the panel 11 may be readily converted from a single thickness blanket to a blanket bag 18 illustrated in FIGURE 2 of the drawing. In such case the

When the stroller blanket is in the bag formation shown in FIGURE 2, it contains a pocket 20 into which a child 21 may be inserted. Upon the front side of the bag there is a slide fastener assembly 22 extending from the upper edge 12 for a relatively short distance, and which will permit that the front side of the bag may be partly opened so as to all-ow greater comfort to the infant. When the slide fastener assembly 22 is unfastened it will form two flaps 23 which will fold downward as shown in FIGURE 2.

Upon the rear side of the rear of the bag, there is a pocket 24 formed by an extra piece of material 25 sewn at its edges 26 to the blanket, the pocket being adaptable for receiving a pillow for supporting the childs head.

In operative use the child may be laid upon the opened out blanket, after which the blanket may be folded over and zipped to form the bag, or if preferred, the child may be inserted thereinto after the bag is formed.

It is to be understood that this design is equally applicable to a quilt construction as well as to a blanket, if so preferred by a manufacturer. It is to be further understood the blanket may be made with an outer layer of water-repellent material if so preferred, so that the same may be used in Windy or rainy weather.

It is to be further noted that if preferred, the pocket on the blanket may be used for being slipped over the back rest of a stroller and thus prevent the bag from slipping. It is to be further understood that this invention may be made with use of snap fasteners, buttons or lace instead of use of slide fasteners, if so preferred. Furthermore, the device may be stitched into a finished bag thereby eliminating the necessity of fastening and unfastening the edges.

While various changes may be made in the detailed construction, it is understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as is defined by the appended claims.

I claim:

1. In a stroller blanket, the combination of a blanket panel, said panel being of generally square configuration having parallel opposite edges, said panel having self contained means along three of its edges for securement together so to form a bag, said bag on its rear side having a pocket, said bag upon its front side having a length of slide fastener for selectively forming a pair of flaps adjacent the opening of said bag for purpose of providing comfort to an infant contained therewithin, said blanket panel being provided with a slide fastener member on one entire side edge and a half portion of a lower edge of said blanket panel, and a separate slide fastener member along an opposite side edge and the entire length of the remaining one half of said bottom edge, said slide fastener members being engageable together by a singular slide fastener slide so to form said bag, said slide fastener assembly on the front side of said bag being centrally positioned and extending approximately one-third the 3 4 length of the bag, said blanket panel being provided with References Cited an outenlayer of water repellent material so to permit UNITED STATES PATENTS use in wind or rain, and said pocket on the rear side of said bag comprising a rectangular panel secured at its 2,707,988 5/ 1955 Sl 1aub et 5343 XR opposite side edges by stitching, the opposite edges form- 5 21711546 6/1955 Llcht 5*343 XR ing alternate openings into said pocket, and one of the latter said edges of said panel being adjacent the upper BOBBY Prlmary Examme" edge of said blanket panel.
