United States Patent 4 Claims. Cl. 206-57) This invention relates to the development of a container for dispensing of articulation paper serving for dentists purposes.

The articulation paper consists of strips of paper coloring blue or black when subjected to pressure and is used by a dentist for ascertaining an exact articulation of the teeth. The articulation paper is generally arranged in booklet form by combining a number of strips at their narrow sides into a booklet. If a stri of the articulation paper has to be used, the same must be torn out from the booklet that is facilitated by providing a perforation. In most cases, both hands are necessary for the removal of an articulation paper from the booklet which is time consuming and complicated.

It is an object of the invention to improve the manner of presentation of the articulation paper by a special formation of the container receiving the articulation paper. According to the invention a container is provided whose lower part is divided in at least two compartments by a middle or longitudinal wall. More than two compartments may be formed by providing transverse walls in the lower part. The bottom surface of each compartment is inclined. Preferably, the oblique bottom surface is inclined towards the middle longitudinal wall. The arrangement may also be such that the oblique bottom surface rises towards the middle longitudinal wall.

In this manner there is obtained a dispenser for articulation paper by which the manipulation for the removal of the paper is considerably facilitated. A loose bundle consisting of a plurality of strips of the articulation paper and inserted in one compartment of the container is opened in vertical direction by the oblique bottom surface. The articulation paper is therefore in an opened condition at the disposal of the dentist who may remove from the dispenser with one hand only by means of a pincette, single strips of the articulation paper. The container serving as a dispenser serves simultaneously as a packing for the product.

In order that the articulation paper inserted into the dispenser is immovably held in the compartment during the transport, the upper part of the container formed as a cover is preferably provided on the inner side with transverse ribs which are triangularly shaped. The extension of the free edges of the transverse ribs corresponds to the inclination of the bottom surface. The transverse ribs of the upper part are offset relative to the transverse walls of the corresponding compartment of the lower part. The planes of the transverse ribs of the upper part lie preferably in the middle of the corresponding compartment of the lower part.

The container serving as a dispenser may be subdivided in an arbitrary number of compartments with an oblique bottom surface. The container is preferably box-shaped and the division between upper and lower part is so dimensioned that with the cover removed the articulation paper strips project sufficiently from the lower part for easy removal.

With the above and other objects in view that will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully 3,325,002 Patented June 13, 1967 described, shown in the accompanying drawings and claimed.

The dispenser 11 for articulation paper consists of a lower part or container 12 and of an upper part 13 serving as a cover. The lower part 12 is provided with a middle longitudinal -wall 14 and with at least one transverse wall 15. In the illustrated embodiment, the dispenser has two transverse walls 15 and six compartments. The width of the compartment is adapted to that of the articulation paper. The compartments are provided with oblique bottom walls 16 which suitably are arranged in such a manner that they rise towards the side walls of the container 12 and are inclined towards the middle longitudinal wall 14. The upper ends of the longitudinal wall 14 and of the transverse walls 15 are flush with the upper end of the container 12.

The outer walls 12a of the lower part of the container 12 end at the same height as the vertex edge 16a of the bottom inclined walls 16.

The upper part or cover 13 is provided on the inner side with transverse ribs 17 which are triangularly shaped. The extension of the free edges 17a of the transverse ribs 17 corresponds to the inclination of the bottom walls 16. The transverse ribs 17 are offset relative to the transverse walls 15 of the lower part of the container 12 as is shown in FIG. 3. The triangularly shaped transverse ribs 17 hold the inserted articulation paper in the closed container 11 in the opened condition.

FIG. 5 shows the dispenser with six compartments which are filled with articulation paper. Each compartment contains a loose bundle 18 of articulation paper. By the oblique bottom Walls, the strips of articulation paper in the lower part 12 are opened in vertical direction so that a single strip may be more easily gripped.

A preferred size of the dispenser for articulation paper is a container with a length of about 63 mm., a width of about 33 mm., and a height of about 52 mm. which contains six compartments with a length of about 19 mm. and a width of about 14 mm. Each of the compartments is preferably filled with 50 strips of articulation paper with a dimension of 52.18 mm. The dispenser is stable and may be closed in a dustproof manner by putting on the cover 13 which overlaps an extension 12!) of the lower part 12.

While there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may 'be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

What is claimed as new is:

1. A container for dispensing articulation paper for dental purposes comprising a container body and a removable cover, said container body being defined by a bottom Wall, a pair of spaced end walls rising upwardly from end portions of said bottom wall, a pair of spaced side walls rising upwardly from side portions of said bottom wall, a fixed central vertical wall in the container body parallel to one of said pairs of wall dividing the container body into at least two compartments, said bottom wall being defined by downwardly converging bottom panels terminating at an apex, and said central vertical wall has a lower edge received in said apex.

2. A container as in claim 1, wherein the cover has on its under side a depending transversely extending rib of generally triangular formation with an inclination of the side edges of the rib corresponding to the inclination of the bottom panels.

A container for dispensing articulation paper for dental purposes comprising a container body and a removable cover, a central vertical Wall in the container body dividing the same into at least two compartments and a bottom wall for each compartment inclined upwardly from the lower end of the central vertical Wall towards the adjacent side wall of the container body for contact therewith, a series of spaced transverse walls in each compartment of the container body having lower inclined ends corresponding to the inclinations of the bottom wall of each compartment with upper straight edges flush with the upper ends of the side walls of the container body and ribs carried by the cover being arranged to present a rib midway the transverse Walls of the container body.

A container for dispensing articulation paper for dental purposes comprising a container body and a removable cover, a central vertical wallin the container body dividing the same into at least two compartments, a bottom wall for each compartment inclined upwardly from the lower end of the central vertical wall toward the adajcent side wall of the container body for contact therewith, said cover having on its under side a depending transversely extending rib of generally triangular formation with an inclination of the side edges of the rib corresponding to the inclination of the bottom walls of the compartment, a series of spaced transverse walls in each compartment of the container body having lower inclined ends corresponding to the inclinations of the bottom wall of each compartment with upper straight edges flush with the upper ends of the side walls of the container body and ribs carried by the cover being arranged to present a rib midway the transverse walls of the container body.
