Description

(No Model.) I
R. M. EASTMAN MIXER FOR CREAM, EGGS, AND LIQUORS. No. 330,829. a Patented Nov. 17,--- 1885.
WITNEEEEE. INVE JTEI Unrrnn States ATENT rrrc RUFUS M. EASTMAN, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- HALF TO CHARLES H. WILDER, OF SAME PLACE.
MIXER FOR CREAMS,
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 330,829, dated November 17, 1885.
Application filed March 6, 1885.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUFUs M. EASTMAN, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mixers for Creams, Eggs, and Liquors, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification.
My invention has for its object the construction of a device, which may be connected to a table or other convenient structure and operated by a motor, for mixing in a suitable vessel creams, eggs, liquors, 8:0. I attain this object by the mechanism shown in the accompanying drawirg, showing my invention in vertical section, and a motor for driving the same in elevation.
My invention does not include any particular motor for furnishing power, as I can use any of the well-known motors-either spring, weight, water, or electricas may be most convenient or desirable.
In the drawing, A represents a table or other structure to which my device is attached.
C C is a bent tube, afflxed to the part A by a SWlYGl joint, 00. I place within this tube C C a flexible rod, E E, having at its outer end, E, a beater, E E journaled in the telescoping pieee P, and held therein by the screwpin 19, the point of which engages with the annular groove p, made in the part E of the beater, E E. The flexible rod EE is attached at E to the rod D, said rod D having sus pended to it the weight D, the tendency of which is to draw the flexible rod E E in a direction that will cause the beater E E and its telescoping piece P to take its highest position when not in use.
H is a tube inclosing the rod D, and has a spline-slot, e, in which a pin, d, projecting Serial No. 151,974. (No model.)
laterally from the rod D,works up and down, so that when the tube H revolves the rod D must also revolve,'thus causing the flexible rod E E and the beater E E to revolve.
H is a pulley affixed to the lower end of the tube H, and is driven by the belt K fromthe pulley K of the motor L. The tube H is jointed to the tube C C, in sucha manner that it may revolve freely in it, and is supported in-the hanger M. The tube C C being connected by a swivel-joint to the part A, may be turned about its own axis to accommodate the convenience of the user.
B is a vessel for holding the compound to be mixed.
To use my device,t-he compound to be mixed is placed in the vessel B and the beater E E is'drawn down by the aid of the telescoping tube P to the required position within the vessel B, the contents of which are thoroughly mixed by the revolving action of the beater.
P is a milled hub placed upon the telescopic tube P for convenience of handling.
P is a flat disk, of some suitable material, attached to the telescopic tube P, and serves to close the mouth of the vessel B.
I claim as my invention- The combination of the tube C C, flexible rod E E, and beater E E, with the rod, D, weight D, tube H, pulley H, and motor L, all operating together substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereofl have signed my name to this specificatiomin the presence of two subscribing witnesses, on this 4th day of March, A. D. 1885.
RUFUS M. EASTMAN. Witnesses:
FRANK G. PARKER,
OHAs. SPAULDING.
