Be it known that I, STEPHEN D. MEHEW, a citizen of the United States, residing at Peabody, in the county of Marion and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful Sole and Heel Plate for Shoes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 is aperspective view showing the heel-plate applied to a shoe. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same, and Fig. 3 is a perspective detail view of the heel-plate.
The heel'plate A is provided near its inner edge with perforations G, to receive the securing-screws, and nail-holes for the nails by which it is secured to the bottom of the heel. The upper edge of the flange B is provided with inturned sharp-pointed lugs or barbs D, adapted to be driven into the side of the heel, for the purpose of retaining the plate in position and preventing it from sagging. The
heel-plate conforms to the shape of the heel. around which the flange B extends.
