DRUM AND CYMBAL CLAMP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 296,152, dated April 1, 1884.
Application filed October 20, 1883. (No model.)
T0 at whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PERRY W. FAIR, of De Kalb, De Kalb county, Indiana, have invented a new and Improved Bass-Drum and Cymbal Clamp, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention consists of a clamp device having a seat and stud-screw for attaching the cymbal to it, and having a bottom and flange adapted for seating substantially on the hoop of the drum, and also having an arm and a binding-screw adapted to clamp on the hoop readily, making a simple device that may be quickly adjusted, and which affords substan tial connection of the cymbal to the drum, all as hereinafter fully described.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of a cymbal, part of a drum, and my improved clamp for attaching the cymbal to the drum. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the clamp, and Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the clamp.
I make a clamp consisting of the base-plate a, having its under surface suitably shaped to fit onthe hoop b of the drum, said plate also having a concave seat, 0, adapted for the cymbal d to rest in, with a stud-screw, e, rising up from the center of said seat, to project through a hole in the cymbal and secure the cymbal by a thumb-nut, f, and said plate a also has a bracket-arm, 9, extending under the hoop, and also a flange, h, which hooks over the inner edge of the hoop, all being cast or otherwise formed in one piece of metal, preferably brass. Thedevice is secured readily to the hoop of the drum by the clampscrew t, fitted in the bracket-arm suitably for screwing against the inside of the hoop to clamp the cymbal fast to the outside of said hoop, the whole being very simple, efficient, and cheap, as will be readily understood.
The flange h, prevents the clamp-plate a from working off the hoop b or shifting its position and working loose. a Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- The improved clamp'for attaching acymbal to a drum, consisting of plate a, adapted to rest on the hoop b, and having seat 0 and stud-screw e, for connecting the cymbal to it, and also having the bracket-arm g and the flange h, all constructed and arranged substantially as described. I
