HAIRDRESSER'S CHAIRS FOR TOY FIGURES PARTICULARLY DOLLS Jan. 12, 1960 Filed Feb. 25, 1957 United States Patent HAIRDRESSERS CHAIR FOR TOY FIGURES, PARTICULARLY DOLLS Fritz Moster, Bielefeld, Germany Application February 25, 1957, Serial No. 641,879 Claims priority, application Germany February 25, 1956 Claims. (Cl. 155-2) The invention relates to a hairdressers chair for dolls and other toy figures. Its object is to produce a toy which will enable a child at play to imitate the procedure of hair washing with a doll sitting on a hairdressers chair, without splashing and dirtying the surroundings to too great an extent.
This object is attained according to the invention in that a toy hairdressers chair with a doll sitting thereon is provided with an arrangement which is movable to bring the doll into a leaning forward position suitable for washing the hair and for holding the doll in this position. The invention also provides a toy which enables the doll to be seated in front of a wash basin and then bent forward over the wash basin so that its head can be washed, on the one hand without it being necessary to hold the doll, and on the other hand without the washing liquid being splashed around outside the wash basin. It has likewise become possible with the aid of the invention, to perform operations, when playing with dolls, which operations are not restricted, as heretofore, to dressing and undressing.
According to the invention the seat of the hairdressers chair is at least partly tiltable about an axis extending parallel with the front edge thereof, and the tiltable part is provided with means for holding a doll on the seat. The seat is preferably divided so that only the portion forming the front edge of the seat is tippable and provided with an elastic holding band which can be placed over the thighs of the doll.
To enable the child at play to wash the head of its doll not only over a special wash basin or the like but also over an ordinary household wash basin using the running water supply, the hairdressers chair may, according to a further feature of the invention, be provided with means which make it possible to connect the chair with an underframe which increases the height of the seat, preferably so that it is adapted for use with an ordinary wash basin. This underframe may have connecting members to cooperate with the supporting parts, for example the legs of the hairdressers chair are constructed as counter-connecting members.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example in the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. l is a cross-sectional view showing a hairdressers chair according to the invention, in position for use,
Fig. 2 being a top plan view of Fig. 1.
Figure 3 shows the chair mounted upon an underframe for use in connection with an ordinary wash basin.
The hairdressers chair according to the invention consists substantially of a base or frame a having legs b, a rear seat portion 0, a back rest d and arm rests e.
A striplike front seat portion f is mounted so that it is tiltable about the axis of horizontal axle 3 supported Patented Jan. 12, 1960 between legs b parallel with the front edge of seat portion f.
This tiltable seat portion 1 carries means for holding the supporting plate i which is fixed on the base a and carries the rear seat part c which is not tiltable.
'I'hetwo partsc andfoftheseat and alsothebackd are made as upholstered or padded parts. They are preferably provided with a waterproof covering, for example of plastic, oilcloth or the like.
The hairdressers chair can be adapted in size to the size of the doll to be used in conjunction with it. It is therefore too low to enable it to be used for washing the head of the doll over an ordinary household wash basin with running water. Consequently it may, according to a further feature of the invention, be arranged, as already mentioned, on an underframe l which brings the seat to the correct height for such a wash basin. The underframe and the hairdressers chair are then provided with interfitting connection means such as plugs k on the underframe fitting into sockets i formed in the leg portions b of the chair base.
I claim:
1. A hairdressers chair for toy figures, especially dolls, comprising a base having leg portions providing at least three points of support, a seat mounted on said base and including a rear seat portion fixed on the base and a front seat portion supported on said base in the same plane as said rear seat portion, and means mounting said front seat portion on the base for tilting about a horizontal axis parallel to its front edge.
2. A hairdressers chair as set forth in claim 1 wherein the front seat portion is provided with means for holding a doll thereon during tilting movement thereof.
3. A hairdressers chair as set forth in claim 1 wherein the front portion of the seat carries an elastic holding band for placing over the thighs of the doll to hold the doll on said front seat portion during tilting thereof.
4. A hairdressers chair as set forth in claim 1 further including an underframe, upwardly extending projections on said under-frame and recessed sockets in the leg portions of said base interfitting with said projections when said base is placed on the underframe to raise the height of the seat.
5. A hairdressers chair for toy figures, especially dolls, comprising a base having leg portions providing at least three points of support, a supporting plate fixed horizontally on the base, a seat including a rear portion fixedly mounted on the rear part of the plate, a front seat portion, an axle mounted across the forward portion of the base, said front seat portion being pivotally mounted at its forward edge on said axle for tilting movement about the axis of said axle from its rest position on the plate.
